?? OMG - Am I A Troll ??

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
Quote:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum or group with the singular intention of baiting users into an argumentative response.

Oh My Goodness! I think I have been on a trolling spree. I've been posting on forums for a long time now and always I'd roll my eyes when I'd see a troll strolling by.... So it was a shock when I looked at my fingers and they were on the QWERTY keyboard like a damn troll hand... Keep in mind though that I was only doing what I like to call a "cause-effect" type of thing - not an intentional bashing of wits - but as a Woman - I think it's my perogative to be right and not have that challenged :p

OK - they say the 1st thing towards "cure" is admission.... So after that what comes next? Now - I'm not admitting that I'm a troll or anything absurd like that, becaue I'm not! I'm not a troll dammit LOL - but yeah - what would be the cure for my "friend" who IS an internet troll?

Jacquii.

fyi - I promise not to flame you, unless you call me a troll and tell me to admit it or some bit of insane crazyNESS with similar meaning.... :p And the 1st person who calls me a Flaming Troll - I will knock you over the head with a mini-keg of Heineken (( which btw is empty because I've drinkin it all )) https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

Adrian Schneider 12-04-2007 05:47 AM

Sometimes. :)

Dream 12-04-2007 07:25 AM

I don't think you are a troll, I think you had good reasons if I'm getting this right.

There is, however, a troll around here that does custom vb work, doesn't ever have anything nice to say, and participated on the "flame war" (was it really?) you had. I won't say names though.

deezelpope 12-04-2007 09:19 AM

Nooooo, Jacquii, you're definitely NOT a troll.:)

and actually, Jacquii is not a Troll... Drama Queen is the word to use on parenting/mothering websites...

BrandiDup 12-04-2007 01:22 PM

You are right about the reason for this post - And I shall not name names either, as it seems like the TROLL culprit has taken the 1st step towards curing his most uglyNESS --- He's admitted the fact that he indeed is an ugh LOL

Oh WOW - I'd never have considered being a Drama Queen --- In fact I've actually customized a couple smilies for my Forum because I NEITHER LIKE, NOR DEAL IN CREATING DRAMA............................................. .....'Less I be flamed for no reason at all.

SbyD_Salient 12-05-2007 03:07 AM

Sorry I read "mini-keg of Heineken" and completely lost track of whether we were talking about drama queens or trolls. Is it possible to be a trolling drama queen?

God alone knows I need an avatar :( Maybe I'll work one out after getting a mini keg this evening on the way home from the pickle factory. :erm:

Shelley_c 12-05-2007 08:11 AM

I think the protection of other peoples work should be paramount and acted upon not just to protect the authors work but to protect the people that run this site who allow people to submit works which are/have been beneficial to the community. The last thing contributers want (and I think you are a contributer) is to have hacks, images sets or styles etc to be moderated before they are accepted into the database because there just may be a chance that someone has submitted a piece of code, graphic set or style that's copyrighted and the author of that works takes action and sues either yourself or this site because they haven't given permission for distribution.

The precautions imo do more good than harm and I've always believed in the philosophy... if you haven't designed/coded it, then it should not be submitted unless the author has given you permission to distribute it.

I'm very happy with how one member of staff handled my report has it protected my works when a member from here distributed it.

I don't believe that your a troll, maybe just a little angry atm (which we have all felt) though if i was to check the database there is at least 20 other sets that I could report from other members which are very suspicious. :)

Marco van Herwaarden 12-05-2007 08:28 AM

Then report them and a staff member will look into it.

well - someone introduced the phrase "Drama Queen" into the conversation - Not I, but possibly someone who is very familiar with them LOL

At anyrate - The Heineken was absolutely delicioso! I would recommend drinking it after you've firmly left the Pickle Factory and are safely at home, resting beautifully on your sofa tehehhehehe https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

So TRUE SHELLEY - I was a little upset when they told me my share wasn't allowed - And yes - I've gone through the database and after seeing the bulk of stuff shared in the styles section - I thought "Wow! Am I being singled out here???"

Anyway - I've taken the liberty of getting over that issue - I have (for the moment) decided to never share anything else here at vB.org

So.... You don't think I'm a Troll eh? LOL - Nice to know ;)

Jacquii.

I haven't got the time to report every submission, it's not my job too to be frank, Your vb.org coordinator marco, i would suggest your distribute your staffs time to ensure that works which are suspicious are acted upon. It's the reason more staff were recruited.

Marco van Herwaarden 12-05-2007 08:59 AM

Staff will investigate reports made by members. It is not their task to go over all submissions and guess if it is original work or not.

@Jacquii
It is not uncommon that once 1 submission is reported and found to be against our rules (copyright in this case), other submissions by the same author are also quickly checked.

deezelpope 12-05-2007 09:06 AM

So, if someone were to report this release of a smiley set, you would have to move it to the Graveyard, right? Because it's not the thread creator's original work? I'm not being a smartaleck, I'm just asking.

Marco van Herwaarden 12-05-2007 09:10 AM

Like said: each report is investigated by staff. If a thread is removed or not depends on the outcome of the investigation.

deezelpope 12-05-2007 09:11 AM

Okie dokie.

Shelley_c 12-05-2007 09:16 AM

Yes, the submission you just linked to deezelpope should be removed.

I'll look into every submission in the database after work but your going to find a lot of image sets removed.

PoetJA-1975 12-05-2007 01:50 PM

This Thread Has Been Hi-Jacked! :D
Anyway - I think that such an anal retentive policy vB.org has on images readily available all over the internet (AND FOR FREE) is to the detriment of the Community. I thought this was a place to share and share alike.

At anyrate - I was sorta getting used to the idea of being a Troll LOL https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

Jacquii.

Freesteyelz 12-05-2007 11:37 PM

I think you like to express your opinion on things but I don't consider you a troll. :)

Having experience in law I'll tell you that vB.org is taking an intelligent and reasonable approach to protecting copyrighted works and more importantly this community. I just ran through Iconator.com's TOS and while it states that their service is free I didn't see anywhere that would suggest that the works available on the site are free for distribution. If there were such a provision, it would have been clearly stated in the TOS. The authors are attached to their works; Iconator.com does not own the works.

If you wanted to share, which you are encouraged to do here at vB.org, you could have linked to the site instead of uploading an avatar pack. :)

PoetJA-1975 12-06-2007 02:27 AM

Valid point FREESTEYELZ ;)

Jacquii.

Freesteyelz 12-06-2007 03:43 AM

Well, that ended without a spark. No drama here! :p

OK...I've killed that joke. *Moving along...* :erm:

PoetJA-1975 12-06-2007 05:52 AM

LOL - Perhaps you didn't get the 1st post of this absurd thread :p

Jacquii.

Freesteyelz 12-06-2007 06:07 AM

As with any thread I naturally went off-tangent...

I don't suppose you bought that for a second? :D

Edited: I removed most of the (first) sentence because it was a grammatical nightmare. I can't even make fun of myself properly. Damn. :p

12-07-2007 09:14 AM

how do you make a signature?im new

deezelpope 12-07-2007 09:24 AM

I think you're allowed to upload one image and you can also have several lines of text. You can change your signature in your User CP.:)

Dismounted 12-09-2007 12:00 PM

Unlicensed members can't have signatures ;).
