Database Error
I requested that my host upgrade our VPS from PHP 4.4.4 to PHP 4.4.7 and install Xcache v1.2.1, which they have completed.
I am now being flooded (over 2000 already) with db errors and have contacted my host regarding this.. Quote:
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm searching Google now, but thought I'd ask you guys, too. Thanks much :) |
Post the contents of your my.cnf
Also, reset your password for your database user thru phpmyadmin. |
Hi, thanks for the reply.... goodness this doesn't look right, does it?

grrr... where can I do this? I'm sorry, thanks again for your help! |
On the main page, click "privileges", then click the little pencil icon on the right of the user for your forum, type the new password in the provided boxes in the change password box.

Oh well hell. I don't get it. For some reason I'm not logged in properly... I appear to be logged into phpmyadmin as my cpanel user.
This is the path I use to login.... is there another way? http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php?db=xxxxxxx&token=...... |
If your using cpanel, change the forum user password using webhost manager.

Anthony, thanks again for your help. I'll try that.
Question.... My host has asked if I have a backup, because apparently they've fubared my box. Ya, this polite girl is starting to speak like a sailor.. Anyway! They asked for this an hour ago. Would it really take that long to restore a site via backup? --------------- Added [DATE]1196377105[/DATE] at [TIME]1196377105[/TIME] --------------- Ok, so I'm in.... see the password field, shall I just edit it because, of course, what I see is not the "actual" password. |
It sounds like you have yourself a drunk sailor.
Import of your db depends on how much info is in it really, but if you db is only 100-200mb, it should be under 5 minutes to import it. Your welcome. |
Well.... the change of the password, and I did modify the config.php, doesn't seem to be doing anything.
The sql file is only 222mb. I just keep getting canned: "Hello, We are working on your issue. We will get back to you with the updates." messages from my host. lol And no, I'm not pestering them. I'd rather they work on my site than spend their time messaging me. Sad thing, until now my hosting company has been pretty great. It just seems like they are grasping at straws. This just bites. |
This is most likely not a corrupted database, but simply a badly configured PHP.
Tell your host to recompile PHP using "system mysql". |

I need to send a huge thank you to Anthony. He took time out of his evening and corrected our problem in under an hour where my host took four with no resolution. Anthony, thanks so much again! |
Not very good advertisement for your host if they can not locate such a simple problem to be honest. The error message was pretty clear and enough information to know what is failing.
PS I mean if i can "guess" what is causing it without server access, then...... |
LOL you think? :p
I was itching to move as it was and this has pushed me over the edge. Sad thing....these guys have a great reputation, and I've been with them for over a year now. grr I hate having to move sites. |
Unfortunately this was a tech issue and the bad recompile of apache/php, had nothing to do with the db itself, sometimes this can relate to old password issues from older versions of MySQL, but it was not the case here.
The drunk sailor strikes again! :D |
