Random Question 11/20:

What's the worst injury you've ever had?

I haven't had very many injuries in my life and the ones I have had haven't been very bad. The worst I can think of is probably my c-sections. Other than that, I haven't ever had anything major happen. *knock on wood* ;)

I've had my heart broken a few times... took a while to heal and jack daniels didn't really do much for the pain. ;)

Kidney Stones. :)

Most painful thing I've ever experienced. Not really an injury, per se though...

I agree 100% Danny. I have had kidney stones twice, and I would just assume you shoot me. The pain can't be as bad.

BrandiDup 11-20-2007 02:18 PM

I feel very lucky to have not ever had anything like kidney stones, issues with my gallbladder or even a UTI. Most people I know have dealt with at least one of the above and I haven't yet but I can't help but think my luck will eventually run out. :erm: I've heard the stones are extremely painful though, I've known quite a few people who have had them.

If it hurts, it classifies as an injury in my book. I'd even say heartbreak is a form of injury. :(

Guillain Barre Syndrome :D

I was hospitalized for 3 months and in a wheelchair for about 7 months

Shattered 4 bones in my left foot in High School during wrestling practice. 8 years later, was in a head-on auto collision and the same foot slipped off the clutch of the car and got compressed under the dashboard, re-breaking my foot in numerous places. Several bones are actually fused together and I can't stand for very long and many days it is painful to walk. I think I live on acetaminophen these days.

Even with that, I wouldn't want to go through what Whitemike did.

I can't compare pain really. Painful things:

- snapped my finger literally in half at the bone (held on by flesh)
- tore hamstring (you have no idea how much this hurts)
- the injection given to you before having an ingrowing toenail removed

Oh yeah, that didn't feel good. I kept getting an ingrown on the same big toe and it kept getting worse and worse. So, I finally went in and the doc said the only way it would ever get better is to completely remove the nail. I said alright as long as it's numb, but holy  that shot did not feel good. I think I might have almost rather felt the toe nail being pulled off. LMAO :D

Kidney stones...multiple times over the years...really sucks! Worst injury was slipping and falling into a running chainsaw at age 18 and cutting my left hand off across the palm. All that remained attached was my thumb.

I've suffered a few concussions over the years, some major and some "minor". The first one I had in my early teen years, I hit a tree while riding my four wheeler and was thrown through the air. I was wearing a helmet (which probably saved my life) but the impact of my head smacking the ground was still enough to cause a pretty bad concussion.

The last thing I remembered was my Dad asking if I was okay, and responding to him "Yea, I think so" while undoing my helmet's strap. I don't remember taking my helmet off, nor do I remember the 15 minutes afterwards even though I was walking around and talking.

My dad and friend told me that I was just asking the same question over and over again (I wanted to know what had happened to my four wheeler because it was in pretty bad shape :p). They kept trying to explain to me that I had wrecked it which I would understand for a couple of seconds before asking "What happened?" again. (Again I do not remember any of this).

I did "come to" at one point, I was sitting in the back seat of my Dads Girlfriend's car. I remember asking her "What's going on?" and she told me that I was going to the Hospital (with a mean tone to her voice, I guess I'd been pestering her for a while and don't remember :p).

I blacked out again and came to in the waiting room at the ER, I remember sitting in a chair with my helmet in my lap. I did come to for good at some point before they placed me in the "tube" for a CT scan...although it's hard to remember exact details of the rest of the day...

I had a couple more after that first one, but it was by far the worse in my book. My sleeping habits have been very screwed up since that day. My short term memory is not as good as it used to be (people in the know will probably blame that one on something else :p). I have really bad headaches in the back of my head, sometimes they run from one temple all the way around to the other.

Other things I notice (other people claim they don't): For a short time after my second concussion I would slur a lot of words. The sluring has mostly gone away...however often times I find myself not begin able to remember names/common words. Sometimes I "make up" new works by combining the start and ending of two words without meaning to. Sometimes I stop in the middle of speaking searching for a word even for very simple things (like the name of a football team). Often times I find myself having to correct myself, and that sucks when speaking to people you just met. ;)

The worse of all is not begin able to remember many things that happened in my life before the concussion. Lately I've been looking at a lot of old photo albums and that has helped me remember some things. But I still can't remember things clearly...for example I can't remember birthday parties from my child hood days even though a lot of my friends do. Many of my childhood memories are gone or very "fuzzy".

I've never broken a bone in my life. I'd break both my legs if it meant I could get back to how things were pre-concussion. I would not have my hand sawed off though....that just sounds way too painful! :o

I concur. I literally rolled on the ground anguished in pain. It was not pretty at all.

Hrm lets see:

I've had my head split open about 7 times
I've been run over 3 times; First time I was only bruised, 2nd time I chipped the top of my knee bone, and the 3rd time I broke my collarbone
I've broken 3 bones in my right hand twice; Both times I broke the same bones, the ones that go from your wrist to your knuckles (don't know their names :p) by punching a brick wall and punching a raised-patterned double glazing door
I've broken several ribs playing rugby...
I got pushed into a fence, and cut my leg from the top to the bottom on a broken off piece of metal fixing...

Last but certainly not least, I've been seriously attacked 2 times; Once when I was 15, and I got hit round the head 3 times with a steel pole... The second time I was 19, and I got my head rammed off a lamppost 6 times and then off the kerbside...

I know what you mean mate... My sleeping patterns are very buggered up - Especially now that I'm working nights (seems to work better for me :)) and have my days off :p

My short term memory is extremely poor; I get bad headaches all over my head (got one right now on my right hand side just above my ear) and I sometimes slur my words, or forget how to speak lol... And I can't remember much about my childhood, only what people tell me or I see in photos etc... Same as you, most are gone or fuzzy...

It sucks doesn't it :(

And I know the stuff we do probably is partly to blame for my current symptoms, but I know even without it I will be almost the same :p

In recent times - a broken little finger about 4 years ago.

The worst is probably about 38 years ago when I fell about 20ft into a basement, I needed several stiches in my head, and cannot remember anything about it other than when I woke up.
