What are your Top 5 Must Have Cool Addons?
 

Hi guys i just run a regular vbulletin forum but i want to jazz it up with some new addons

What are your top 5 cool addons and where can i find them to download?

Automatic Backup
Read Users PMs
vBShout

mostly administrative mods. not many end-user ones

1) ICash, IBank, IShop
2) Casino
3) Shoutbox
4) Mood Manager
5) Cool skins

If you use the search feature, you shouldn't have any trouble finding any of these.:)

Automatic Backup ? Whats it backup and create? all the posts and threads?

Read users pms? hey that sounds cool does that let you see their pms where do i find that one?

Really, the only thing I would ever "need" on my forums are administration tools that allow me to do the job easier, faster, more efficient, and allow me time to actually enjoy my site! Other than that I think anything that is relevant to your type of site would be a good addition.

The only thing I ever need on new boards is anti-spam tools.

i have like 150 addons installed on each of my forums... each of these forum have specific tools for their needs... addons make the site complete, instead of having to use a portal, a blog system etc seperately...

Wouldnt care to share what addons those are?

Way to show photos like user gallerie
and maybe a blog system?

There is little point in asking people for their top 5 - everyone will give different answers.

If you want to see the 5 most popular, go to the portal page (home tab) and look down the left hand side.

That is the whole point to get the different answers and in doing so find out the best ones from each person

Theres some must have for the members and must have for the staff/admins ...

Anyone know where i find the 2 mentioned above

Cool skins is just a skin you like lol click on "styles" and pick one you like

You can search the mod in the right had corner for users PM"s

Yeah, Dude...skins are just another name for styles...and what you install depends on yours and your members' preferences. I've several different ones...adds variety.:)

I think its so you can login as them without having to get their password or change it to get in

Sorry im not following..

WHen i originally installed Vbulletin I had the default look.

I paid a guy to come in and put the Default look inside my homepage template so the outsides look like my homepage

Are you saying Skins can change the default look without ruining the work he did in my template
area?

I am in admincp and i dont see anything about skins

Hey it sounds like a great idea but 3 questions

1. Ok i see i find styles at the top right tab next to mods right?
2. where in admincp do i install them?
3. IF i use a skin will it mess up my template?

You upload the XML file from your admincp import styles
Upload the images to the FTP in the proper folder

The skin creates a new set of templates

ah ok thanks.. so it would mess up my template that i have now

then a must have, imo, would be the "enhanced captcha images" hack. the bots havent figured it out yet.

as far as hacks that the users like best ... its to hard to say. they each have their own preferences. :indifferent:

Here are my recomendations:

- ibProArcade for vBulletin - The games keep the users coming back
- NoSpam! - Stop BOTs flooding your site with junk posts
- vB Ad Management - Make money from your forum
- Auto Database Backup - Enough said
- Inactive User Reminder Emails - Sends emails out to inactive users encouraging them to re-visit the forum

As somebody has already said "Different people will give different answers"

There does seem to be a general agreement that Shout and Chat mods can have a negative effect on your boards performance!

A lot of people swear by VBSEO, as it helps with search engine rankings. I cant use it though because my host is pants (Doesnt support Zend or IonCube)
