Help With Showthread Alignment Issue
1 Attachment(s)
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I just noticed this today. I was logged in with my test account, and noticed that the thread table is not aligned properly. Everything is fine when I am logged in as myself (admin account).
Sorry for the poor description. See the attached screenshots for clarification. Does anyone know what i need to do to correct this? Thanks for your help. |
It could be several issues ranging from colspan, inlinemod (checkbox), postbit wrapper, postbit Table, side column...
If you're viewing as a guest do you still get that problem? |

Any idea what I can look for to correct the problem? Thanks --------------- Added [DATE]1194487587[/DATE] at [TIME]1194487587[/TIME] --------------- does anyone have an idea where I can look? This is ot a huge deal, but I would like to fix it. |
Just for kicks temporarily remove your side column and see if your postbit then aligns with the upper postbit bar. If the misalignment still exists then the problem is more likely with the choices I gave in post #2. To problem solve, we can go through each of the choices.

Thanks for your help Freesteyelz. I disabled the side column, and still had the same issue.
Sorry for the ignorance. I do not know this stuff too well, but I am trying/willing to learn. |
NP at all. We'll figure this out. :)
We now know it's not with the side column. So let's move to the postbit template (only if you have modified it in any way). Can you please post it and I'll try to duplicate the misalignment. |
OK. It does it in both postbit, and postbit and postbit_legacy. SO here are both templates:
Postbit: Code:
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT=='private' && is_member_of($post, 5, 6, 7)"> Again, thanks for your help. |
Postbit Legacy:
Code:
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT=='private' && is_member_of($post, 5, 6, 7)"> |
I think i know what the issue is, if your staff on the forum, youll have that side bit where it lets you select the post to edit, delete etc, i had same issue on my forum and never realised til someone pointed it out to me....I don't know how to fix it, but im 100% sure its that bit.

You are on to something. That is exactly what it is. I just logged in as one of my mods, and his alignment is correct.
Anyone know how to fix this?? |
That's the inlinemod (checkbox). :)
So, in your showthread template post the codes between: Code:
<!-- toolbar --> I think we'll have a better idea once we get all inlinemod codes (of both postbit and showthread) interacting together. :) |
Here you go:
Code:
<!-- toolbar --> |
Thank you. :)
I'll see what comes up and get back to you... |
Thanks for your help.

Interesting. I adopted your postbit and showthread codes and I did not get the misalignment. Then I did a side-by-side comparison with my code and yours and none of the differences between codes suggested a problem. Third, I added a side bar inside and outside the spacer codes and nothing came up. I'm now wondering if this is with the spacer_open/spacer_close or postbit_wrapper.
If you change the style (whether default or custom) do you still receive the misalignment? |

If you're game, export that custom style then import it as a Parent style. You'll lose some of your custom codes but it'll simplify the process of troubleshooting. If you do, see if you still receive the problem.
I'm still with you on this issue. :up: |
OK. I just downloaded the style, and imported it as a parent style. Still have the same issue.
|
Hmm...I'm curious to see your style now. See, let's say I import the style and get the misalignment then the problem is with the style. If there isn't a misalignment then the problem is outside the scopes of the style.

Style added as an attachment. Thanks for sticking with it.

OK...I uploaded two versions of your style (the original and edit). I then compared the VarStyles, Main CSS and Templates. I think I've managed to pinpoint the source of your misalignment.
In your navbar template find at the bottom: Code:
<!-- USC header edit start --> When I removed this section of code the misalignment was no longer an issue. :) I also removed in your footer template the ending code: Code:
<!-- USC footer edit start --> I've tested this on both IE and FF browsers. Try the changes and see if you get your desired results. Let me know how it goes. :) |
