Shogi MOD?

^ it's a japanese board game that I would like to implement into my forum....

It's a Japanese version of chess. It could be done if there is a chess mod. After that what would be needed to be done is change the pieces, starting positions, the board, and the rules of the game.

Sounds like an interesting game though. Now all I need to do is find someone with that game.

I have been working on a chess game, as well as a couple others. Chess is maybe 75% done. How different are the rules and the way the pieces move?

well there are pieces that move in the same way as regular chess but there are extra pieces that move in completely new ways.

That wiki link that was posted has a lot of information on it. If you read it you will get a very good understanding how the game works and the way the board is set up. Also there are promotions for the pieces so theres something else to add.

Now we are getting somewhere. You found a chess mod for vBulletin and a site that gives you a better understanding of the game. Now all thats left is someone to create the mod.

It's a interesting looking game, and I might consider it as I am doign a strategy games pack, but I really don't see there being a lot of interest for it as most people will have never even heard of it...

Yes very true but what about the people that go through all those flash game sites. A lot of the people that go through them just click on a game and say how do I play read the instructions and if they want to then play.

Flash games tend to be a lot simpler then a complex 2-player strategy game ;)

Yes I know, but there are a few complex games people make with flash.

though I prefer the shogi to be a completely new mod than that chess mod however please :/

Well lets see if the guy that did the chess mod will make it.

hm... I'm not that sure however, cause chess has about...2 or 3 less rows than Shogi :/...so yea

Thats why I stated before that the board will be needed to be changed.

Remember anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it.

I just checked the files....

the chess.php is the file that determines general information for wins loses...I think moving patterns :/ but not sure, stil might have to edit that to make shogi :)

the product xml file is the thing that determines at least the board stats, etc :/

Well the xml is to install it so you might need to edit that.

HOW -_-' I dunno really which part of it to edit :/

First just try to fix up the PHP file to the game specs and then worry about the XML later.

-_-' then I'm most likely gonna change all the "chess" values into "shogi" mostly to show there is a difference between the two :/ crediting original author later however >_>'
