Video Gallery - Share Videos! (From Any Website)

NOTE: I will take this hack out of it's BETA stage soon! Please report any features you would like to see, or any bugs that you encounter!

This hack will add a video gallery to your forums accessible at the location: www.yourforumurl.com/forums/videogallery.php

To add a video users must specify a unique videoID code and select a "Video Type" from the list of available options. This hack comes included with "Video Types" for Google Video and YouTube. A "Video Type" consists basically of just the Embedding code for that video sharing site with each instance of the Unique Video ID replaced with the text: $code. When the video is displayed the text $code is replaced with the UniqueID specified by the user who added the video.

You can add new video types to accommodate almost any video sharing website. There are detailed instructions written within the hack to help you through this process.


Features Added in Beta Version 3
Pagination has been made more robust.
Templates have been tweaked for visual appeal.
Comment Writer and Admins can now delete comments.

Features added in Beta Version 2

1) A means to move videos from one category to another.
2) Video Rating System
3) Category Video Listing will display recently added videos + highest rated videos.
4) Video Comments

Installed but get the following error when trying to view the gallery

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.8:

I forgot to include the table prefix constant in the install/uninstall code. Really silly mistake, sorry. I will upload a fixed version.

Just fixed it. Redownload the package, uninstall the old product, and install the new one. (You should Uninstall the old one to remove the useless tables that didn't have the prefix)

Actually, you can fix that error by redownloading the package, uninstalling the old product, and reinstalling the new product.

The new install/uninstall code has the table prefix constant added. (There is no need to manually edit the product xml)

Another good mod, which I will be keeping an eye on as it progresses, nice work.

Please add the following features:

1. Make thumbs of the videos in navigation
2. Show user last submited videos on their profile
3. Report a bad video
4. Show X number of videos from category Y on Forum Z
5. Show latest videos on VBadvanced
6. Make the navigation SEO friendly: videos/music/video-1112

Would it be possible to allow users to upload their videos to a specific YouTube account through this hack? I think this feature would give an extra boost to the hack. :)

do not use Video type like youtube and google .

i found a couple of bugs...

1. I have 3 videos in one category and 1 video in another.. but the video count for both shows as 3 videos...

2. Inside a video category, you can keep going to the next page even though there is no more than one page of videos...

letting users enter their own embed code wouldn't be smart from a security perspective...and there would be no control...

but you just gave me an idea... how about making this compatible with AME, that way you can control the types of videos through AME..

I will consider other additions in the future, but AME integration and the features posted by edenx are not really what I would consider core functionality. Once I release a non-beta version, however, I will most definitely consider adding some more complex and "nichey" features.

The hack has been updated to Beta Version 2. All of the core functionality that I previously mentioned as missing has now been added.

why can we not edit videos or comments?

Because I have not added that feature yet. :)

our one member found a couple of bugs...

so for this do i need to uninstall ver 1 first and install 2 from scratch.
