Thanks.

Topic wise it's great. Unique at least; must be the first board I know about the topic...

As for other things, the info bar personally annoys me, but at least the ads don't somewhat bother me in comparison (even less so with Adblock applied). It's just incredibly annoying, and stupid looking if not using Internet Explorer, seeing as that's the only browser with a similar info bar.

Need some work on the smilies. Too basic; even your avatars are more original than them! Get some nice ones to go with your avatars or the like, maybe these:

vB Code needs some more codes. I released some if it helps.

Like the gallery on the top of the main page. If you know where to get that, let me know.

Really don't know how else to improve. Maybe make the post icons and smilies like the stuff a BBQ site should have? Food related preferably, like a smily of a pig being roasted over a fire/barbeque?

Thanks. I only use the infobar when I ant to make sure the members see something. I hardly ever have it on.

Thanks. I am looking to add some more smileys. But, honestly, they are not at the top of my list.

What do you mean? Explain what codes I need.

The Gallery is PhotoPlog Lite. I have customized it a little bit, but you can find the download here:

I would love to make the icons more "BBQ Related", but I do not have the skills to do it. And...don't have the money to pay someone.

For the smilies, it's your choice. There are more important things.

As for vB Codes, just thought the selection was a bit limited. Maybe I am just used to the 40 odd codes I usually install?

The gallery download which seems appropriate is for 3.5, so I assume that still works with vBulletin 3.6, correct? Unless it's the CMPS required one... in which case I'm screwed.

As for the icons... I'm sure you can request them for free. I personally either make/have icons made by members personally. Maybe ask your members, or at some graphics forum?

The one that I linked works fine in 3.6.8. It's what I have installed.

I made some new icons for "New Threads", "No New Threads", and "Locked Forums". What do you think?

I knew I had it!
Hope you like it!

lololol

Knew it had to be a Southerner: Pork BBQ!!

Personally, I'd add the gallery images above the explanation of the forum -- and I'd display tempting FOOD, first (what gets to a guy's stomach...ah...heart more?). ;)

And green text on a red background for the navbar is too contrasting. Make the background a BBQ red color, and add yellow text to give the firepit look, too.

Theme needs to show the average Joe what you're really about, no quess work, all show.

hey just a question what paypal thing do you use for donations?

BrandiDup 11-04-2007 02:17 PM

I"m a true southerner so I can definitely appreciate GOOD BBQ. People laugh that I'm so picky about it but there IS a big difference between BBQ and good BBQ. So far, I haven't found any decent BBQ here in San Diego. It just isn't comparing to what we had in Tennessee and Florida.

Anyhoo, back to topic :p I don't have much constructive advice to give, because I think your site looks great. Nice colors, easy on the eyes, everything goes together very nicely, good icons that fit your theme, great content, site seems busy. So, you get an A, in my book. Nice job :)

Thanks for the nice words. As for BBQ in California, I'm pretty sure that the Southern Food Association (OK...I made that up) has put a ban on exporting ANYTHING to CA :D.

Next time you go through South Carolina, let us know...we'll hook you up.
