Your I. Q. ???

We all know that we are the smart-ones, the geniuses in our own families... But can you state your I.Q. ???

My I.Q. is 75 points

[for each hemisphere :D]

In fact you can see my Brain working HERE

I've never taken a reliable IQ test... and I wouldn't suggest that anyone report his or her IQ who hasn't taken their test at a physical officially-administered location.

Kirk Y 10-14-2007 05:42 PM

I remember taking an IQ test for my Psych. class... I think I got a 120 or something like that.

Sean James 10-14-2007 05:48 PM

450... yeah its off the charts ;)

Paul M 10-14-2007 06:40 PM

The last one I did (which was about 15 years ago) was 143. I doubt I could score that now.

lasto 10-14-2007 06:45 PM

im smart enough not to take one :)

davidw 10-14-2007 08:14 PM

The last five IQ tests I had done ranged between 131 and 145, but the most previous two were on the lower part of that spectrum. :P It's all really a mind-game, if you think about it, but then again, it's a little disconcerting to know you score a little lower when you've scored higher before.

Freesteyelz 10-14-2007 09:11 PM

Aside from the IQ standard deviations, we seem to have Mensa representation in the house.

Chris M 10-15-2007 12:13 AM

My IQ when last tested was 147, but since IQ doesn't really mean much in the UK, I haven't bothered testing it lately... But a rough estimate would put it around 14......... :D

Chris

You'd probably average around 143 if anything. Unless you had brain injury or have studied how to take IQ-type tests your overall score wouldn't change outside the scopes of the standard deviation. Moreover, the score you see on paper may not be a true representation of your actual IQ. While it can, IQ generally does not change dramatically over your lifetime.

same thing here...

at school, there was these questionnaires supposed to be IQ raters... i usually had extra high ranks... until they found i was intelligent ... they always thought having higher ranks was bad for the education.. .because being a high IQ meaned you were smarter than the teachers.. lol

What "smart" person thinks: "You know I'd like to teach at a high school".

Heck the "dumb" kids were smarter than the teachers, just look how they are able to control the classroom while the teacher stands there mostly helpless to do anything about it. So you send the kid to the office, he's back in a day or three tops, and what about the other 5 people doing the same thing? Do you send them all to the office or "lab" just so they can continue to cause trouble there for the rest of the day? ;)

On topic: If I've taken one it was so long ago that I can't remember. I've really never had a reason to take one so it isn't something I'm going out of my way to do. ;) IIRC anything over 120 is good right? If so some of you have some high scores....:p

TruthElixirX 10-15-2007 08:52 PM

I took an IQ test last Thursday. 123. It was some little 15 minute one administered by my school, so I don't know how accurate it is.

towermatt 10-15-2007 09:47 PM

I've seen people score well on one of these and still not be able to clean their house or balance a bank statement....

I've never taken one.

deezelpope 10-15-2007 09:54 PM

I was given one in high school...and had a meeting with the guidance counselor afterward. It was kinda embarrassing for me at the time.:o

15 minutes... not the Mensa test... the last Mensa test i had was like 12 hours spread on 3 days... lol
(oh, and for that test, i passed it.. lol... they never give you the result, just tell if you pass or not)

My bank statement already comes balanced for me.

Whether or not I meet the funds necessary to make ends meet... that's another story :P

towermatt 10-16-2007 03:55 PM

:D

I think we can all agree on that last bit.

There is a difference between raw intelligence and life skills / common sense. In fact some of the most famous intelligent people would look like a complete idiot if you met them doing ordinary day to day tasks. There are some famous examples of their inability to grasp simple skills, I guess because they were to busy thinking about important things to pay much attention to what was going on around them.

towermatt 10-16-2007 08:36 PM

All very true. My point was I think IQ is about much more than a standardized test.

Lets not generalize. :D It depends on the high school.

The whole notion of IQ is pretty controversial anyways even if you have your test administered reliably. (As in... at an officially proctored testing center)

Even then most studies find that IQ is heavily subject to the law of diminishing returns. Its important to score relatively well, but there are no significant advantages between high and super-high scores. All this points to the conclusion that IQ tests are not directly measuring "intelligence" but rather are merely another test which require "intelligence" in order to score well on.

136 -> 8 years ago

Now it would be slightly less I believe

Gio~Logist 10-24-2007 04:14 AM

I took one about 2 years ago and it was about 161 or so... not sure how it is now.

wow that's a lot! Congrats :) Consider working at NASA

From a previous job, an IQ test and psych eval was required several different times, so I knew what mine was from several tests. I also had a car wreck and a TBI and it dropped considerably. There were more tests after the accident. However, I was informed that the knowledge is still there but the pathways were destroyed and need to rebuild. That's kinda' interesting, but it was very frustrating at first. I'm still building new roads in my brain! :)

You can get your results from MENSA. I was a member for awhile, fresh out of HS, but didn't continue on when going to college. There's a pre-test that lasts about 1/2 hour just to determine if you can take the "big" test.

At any given time, to be MENSA material, you have to be in the top 2% of the population when it comes to having an accredited test. There's consistently about 100,000 members worldwide, but that doesn't mean that if you're not in it that you're not MENSA material. It might mean that you don't want to continue paying your dues. LoL! And you want to balance your checkbook with the extra money that you didn't spend on dues.

And I think that all y'all are pretty smart. All triple digits. BTW, I used to have a breakdown of the MENSA people, and they ranged all over the place in their life styles, jobs, etc., including the homeless to millionaires. Smart doesn't always mean wise.
