This error indicates that your host has enabled the PHP open_base_dir setting on your server. Your host needs to add your vBTube installation folder to the allowed paths for this setting (i.e., add the file path referenced in the error as "not within the allowed path").

The open_base_dir setting is primarily used to prevent php scripts for a particular user from accessing files in another user's account. So usually, any files in your own account should be readable by your own scripts.

Sorry but this is not a video posting/hosting mod.. It just integrates YouTube searching & Viewing into your site.

FRANKTHETANK 2 10-13-2007 05:15 PM

Thanks for the bug report. I think this is due to the subdirectory, I'll look into it properly tonight.

cjshirlaw 10-13-2007 05:26 PM

Looks good. I will wait a week or two and see if there are any bugs cause I am to lazy to upgrade anything :D

Thanks for the modification :up:

thedvs 10-13-2007 05:26 PM

JadedSouls 10-13-2007 05:29 PM

Having the code needed to put into the navbar template might be nice for those that don't quite know how to do it right..

efc9 10-13-2007 05:30 PM

Good Point Jaded.

Code:

<a href="$vboptions[bburl]/vBTube.php">vBTube</a>

JadedSouls 10-13-2007 05:31 PM

thank you kindly :)

JadedSouls 10-13-2007 05:36 PM

Added that to the navbar and it doesn't show anything. I'm also getting 2 dots and using firefox. Other than those 2 things it looks great

Spank 10-13-2007 05:47 PM

Can videos be uploaded to youtube via this mod? I think alot of people are going to love you for this efc9.

thedvs 10-13-2007 05:49 PM

it does need WOL
theres that error in the above post by unitedpunjab & the download video doesn't seem to work on mine.

efc9 10-13-2007 06:03 PM

Thanks for the bug reports everyone, I always feared it would have some. I've figured out the problem with the dot and firefox, it's because I'm missing a <ul> Avant shows it fine but that's down to it's IE core I guess.

The added slashes I'm still trying to identify the problem causing that, but hope to have that fixed soon too, once that's fixed I'll add an update.

Sadly videos cannot be uploaded via this mod, but YouTube are expanding the API to include upload features, so that will be added later.

WOL, Usergroup Permissions, and other general options will be added to the next full version.

kentley 10-13-2007 06:11 PM

Fantastic mod!

Found a bug - when you search for something ( using search VBtube ) that returns no videos I get loads of "0"s displayed on screen. Can send a pic of this if you want.

FRANKTHETANK 2 10-13-2007 06:14 PM

I'd like to add another category. Where can this be done? I got the category in the product but where can one edit the cat=id? Any help would be great.

JadedSouls 10-13-2007 06:28 PM

I used this to put it into the navbar link:

Code:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="vBTube.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[vBTube_title]</a></td>

Vi3t4Lov3 10-13-2007 06:31 PM

You'll need to edit the vBTube template, I'll make the categories configurable rather than hardcoded into the template in a later version.

vbreal 10-13-2007 08:01 PM

wil.l add after next update. thanks for the mod!!

Lionel 10-13-2007 08:09 PM

This is cool. I made something similar for my site a month ago. Suggestion: in my version, admin and mods can post the video in a set forums using the AME hack

LPH2004 10-13-2007 08:13 PM

This is fantastic !

Is there a way to narrow the search down immediately on the vBTube.php page so that only certain topics are shown? For example, a technology site might only want to show the technology videos on that opening php page. The other videos can be made available through the left menu.

For a live demo: www.whatisnew.com/vBTube.php or www.tabletquestions.com/vBTube.php
These sites are on two different linux based servers to test performance.

shaynehammy 10-13-2007 08:19 PM

This looks awesome! Will check back once beta is complete. Voted for MOTM.

The other videos can be made available through the left menu You can edit vBTube.php to show a default search page instead.

in vBTube.php find (updated for v1.2.6):
Code:

if ((!$_GET['do'] || $_GET['do'] == ''))
{
        $_GET['do'] = 'today';
}

and change to:
Code:

if ((!$_GET['do'] || $_GET['do'] == ''))
{
                $search='<insert search term>';
        $_GET['do'] = 'search';
}

replace <insert search term> with your search term and that'll show the search instead of the featured videos on the frontpage.

I've thought about adding a "make new thead with this video" feature. Haven't looked at AME but will do so..
