Halo 2 & Halo 3 Stats in Postbit Legacy

What is this?

This is a simple template edit modification to that displays the Halo 2 & Halo 3 logo in the
user's postbit linking them to there stats.

Things to do:

[2] Image Uploads
[2] Phrase Add-Ons
[1] Field Addition
[1] Template Edit

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Image Uploads

Upload the attached images (Halo2.gif) & (Halo3.gif) to /forum/images/misc/

2. Phrase Add-Ons

- Go to your ACP
- Go to the "Languages & Phrases" and click Phrase Manager.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click "Add New Phrase"
- Use the following to fill in the fields for the first phrase.
-- Phrase Type: GLOBAL
-- Product: vBulletin
-- Varname: view_halo2_stats
-- Text: View your Halo 2 Stats.
- Now add a second phrase using this information.
-- Phrase Type: GLOBAL
-- Product: vBulletin
-- Varname: view_halo3_stats
-- Text: View your Halo 3 Stats.

3. Field Addition

- Go to your ACP.
- Click the User Profile Fields tab.
- Click Add New Profile Field
- Select the option for "Single-Line Text Box" and click Continue.
- Use the following information to fill in the options.
-- Title: Xbox Live Gamertag
-- Description: What is your Gamertag for Xbox Live?
-- Max length of allowed user input: 15
-- Field Length: 25
-- Field Editable By User: Yes
- The rest of the fields really don't matter.
- IMPORTANT: Remember your field number! It will say in your Profile Field Manager screen.

4. Template Edit

- Go to your ACP.
- Select Styles & Templates and go to your style manager.
- From the drop down box of your skin, select edit templates.
- Select to edit your postbit_legacy template.
- You can choose to add the following code wherever you like, but I'll give some of the beginners a place to put it, if they don't know there way around the templates.

FIND:
HTML Code:

<div>$post[icqicon] $post[aimicon] $post[msnicon] $post[yahooicon] $post[skypeicon]</div>
PASTE BELOW:
HTML Code:

<if condition="$post['fieldXX']">
<a href ="http://www.bungie.net/Stats/PlayerStatsHalo2.aspx?player=$post[fieldXX]"target="_blank"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/halo2.gif" alt="<phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[view_halo2_stats]</phrase>" border="0" /></a>
</if>
<if condition="$post['fieldXX']">
<a href ="http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=$post[fieldXX]"target="_blank"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/halo3.gif" alt="<phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[view_halo3_stats]</phrase>" border="0" /></a>
</if>

- Replace all the "XX" with the field number you created earlier. There are 4.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Refer to the screen shot and the red arrows to view the modification.

It might take some tweaking to make it look right, but it's a nice addition. In my screenshot I have the XBL Gamescore added to make it look better. If you would like to add that to your forum... Visit this link: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=157122

Then you would just add the above code below that.

Enjoy! Please click Install!!

Thanks - great addition to the gaming forums.
One typo- you call a custom phrase1 in the image alt="" but didnt include it in your phrase.
I put mine as follows:

I don't have that option on my site for 3.6.8 and I installed it as best I could that you said except for the red area shown and I do not see that profile anywhere. What did I do wrong?

SuperTaz 10-02-2007 02:49 AM

Any suggestions? If not, I will uninstall this add-on till someone comes out with a better one.

vb 3.6.8 "Single-Line Text Box"
Title: XBox Live Gamertag
Descrtiption: What is your Gamertag for Xbox Live?
Max length of allowed user input: 15
The above is all you should have to add.
The rest should default at sufficient values.

It appears you have the right entries for the profile field.
Did you add the number of your created profile field in place of the XX in your postbit code?
PHP Code:

<if condition="$post['fieldXX']"

If you created field5 then:
PHP Code:

<if condition="$post['field5']"

Yes everything else was entered correctly. It was just the highlighted area that I did not have.

When you click "Add New Profile Field" from the User Profile Fields in the ACP, select Single Line Textbox. It should be the default value. Click continue. Then don't worry about it from there. Hope that helps.

This is a nice little addition to any gaming community. I have edited the image, as my site contrasts in colours to your site, so for any members with a light coloured website, here is the image I have used:

Demo: http://www.worldofclans.com/forums/s...everybody.html

Fantastic Mod, thank you.

You dont have to worry about the highlighted area.
If it still does not show...VVV
The only thing I can think of is that you did not upload the images to your Styles misc directory.
When $stylevar[imgdir_misc] is used, the images must be placed in every misc folder for every Style that your board uses- not just the default.
If thats not the case, check the Stylevars location for your Style-try adding a full url-
You may have a mod disrupting your css somewhere which requires the complete url.

The code calls for the images in forum/images/misc. not in each skin folder. Even so, if they image didn't show the phrase. I think he just got confused when making the fields.
