"Downloaded:" thread prefix
What's the reasoning behind this? Are you trying to trick me into clicking install, just because I've downloaded a modification?
The thread titles are already long enough in some cases to warrant having a prefix. |
It's merely there to remind you that you've downloaded that modification.
|
I don't need a reminder that I've downloaded it though. It serves no purpose. Why would anyone ever need to know they've downloaded a modification. An install prefix, would be far more appropriate and useful, IMHO :)
|
their an install one also. also a tagged one ;)
|
Okay sure, tagged and installed I can completely understand. But why would you ever need to know if you've downloaded a mod?
|
I find it quite useful at times. Simply because I have a single list in my User CP where I can go and either switch them to installed or delete them if I decide not to use them. Keeps the install list nice and clean with only what you are actually using not what you experimented with and discarded.
Though this is before tagging and I haven't looked into how to tag a mod yet. |

Nevertheless, I'm not suggesting we take away that page in the usercp where you can list what you've downloaded. I'm merely suggesting the prefix be dropped on forumdisplay, as it serves no function there. |
You are not a common user Dean, you are a coder and more likely to download things without the intention of ever using it. Most members are just users and i guess it will be usefull for them.

I like it - it helps me keep track of new posts in thing I've installed/downloaded.
New posts can also mean new versions and fixes |
If you don't mark a download modification as installed, the downloaded tag goes away after 5 weeks anyway, it's a short term reminder that harms nothing. :)
|
i find it useful as well, most the time i download and test the modification before clicking install, and then usually closing the window before i get the chance to click install and the downloaded prefix makes it nice and easy to find things again :)

Could you please stop sending me emails that I downloaded files but did not click on Install?
Today I received 2 emails like that. It is quite annoying. |
We only send out 1 email per account. If you received multiple emails for this, then you most likely are using more then 1 account. Also it is doubtfull that you received 2 of such emails today as we only send them the 15th of each month.
