IP marked as spam due to emails from vB
 

I talked with microsoft live people (MSN, hotmail, etc) and they are stating my IP is marked as possible spam due to all the emails coming from the IP address. Is there a way around this? My members are saying they are not getting all their emails due to Microsoft blocking it. Any ideas?

Here is the error I get emailed back when I mass pm'd all my members. I got a TON of these.

That e-mail suggests that the receiving mail account no longer exists, not that your ip address is blocked.

I know its blocked because I got an email back from Microsoft Customer Service telling me that the IP address is blocked due to mass emails from it to their MSN and Hotmail users.

It is the same as the one above, I have confirmed with the member that his email is active, he even sent me an email from the address. Below is the error but its similar to the one at the top...

That does not mean it is blocking it due to the post notifications. Check out a black list listing to see if your IP has been black listed. I know for a brief time, there was a setting on my server that created an open relay condition.... talk about being a pain to get rid of!

I know that email does not state that. As I said, Microsoft told me it is blocked. Here is a copy of their exact email to me...

UNless you have a dedicated server/ip then its possible others on the same machine have caused the issue/

This has happened to me. I am now having so much trouble because of an open relay. I've setup Domain Keys, SPF records but it isn't a speedy recovery. Anyone have any suggestions on how to repair an open relay that caused ip blocking?

Took me 2 weeks to get unblocked. Had to jump through hoops for hotmail. I left "Dont use a hotmail email' on my signup page and I left it up in case it happens in the future. I Dont get any issues with gmail or anyone else.

quite an old thread, about 3 years to be exact.

Why not make a sticky stating you aren't wanting people to post in old topics and lock them all duh. What does an old thread have to do with this question, and/or any question that is exactly what the topic and/ or the OP is about? You think an open relay question is not relevant anymore , you go out of your way to just say this and to discourage people from using the search and posting here yes? We should start a new topic even when a topic is relevant to members. sign...

I see yahoo has lifted it but gmail is still a problem. All I see is their bulk mail FAQ policies which doesn't help for this matter. If anyone knows how to contact them regarding blocking ip's, that would be so appreciated?

Once you contact them, it takes 2 weeks. It happened to me before. I figured this last time Id do all the things they asked and it took just as long and the emails still mostly get dumped into their junkmail folder so it didnt do anything doing all the things they asked.
