Facebook vBulletin Application

Check this out (not my site or app):

How interesting. :) I tried it and it signed me up to the vBulletin forum automatically. I wonder if this is easy to code - wouldn't mine integrating my site that way.

Not a bad little application that :)

I've been looking at facebook apps as a great medium for further promotion of my site, and this app looks very interesting. In the near future I would ideally like to take the top rated threads from a specified forum and output them to the facebook app, which would then display them on facebook, with a link to the thread and maybe stating the number of comments. Does anyone have any idea where the best place to start would be? Thanks.

enjoymarcus,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed.

To be able to download modifications and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (vB-Germany users click here, vB-Chinese users click here) and enter your email address. You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

To protect our customers privacy you will also need to Opt-In to license validation for all Support Sites. You must authorise vBulletin.org in order to validate your license status here. You can do this at the page linked above for your distributor. Make sure to set the permission to allow vBulletin.org to validate your status.

The update of your account can take up to one hour.

Thank you.

It is Erwin! Everyone start bowing!

Yea though, really nice little application they have there.

I actually just received a grant from Facebook to write an application for a music store that's vbulletin based. If you know how to write a grant, you can get very good funding to do just that.

These 'widgets' are the next big thing. Marketers are still figuring out how to best utilize them to make a lot of money...tying vBulletin into such widgets is probably not a bad idea if you implement it properly. (Eg. You can get substantial traffic to your community.)

That really is a superb pluggin. Would be great to be able to implement somthing like that.

Totally!

aus_dave 12-05-2007 01:48 AM

I like the concept but it needs a bit of polishing up - I thought it might somehow integrate the user's email address from Facebook, but the email in UserCP just says 'facebook@wuteva.com'.

For sites that don't require email verification it would be fine but we have enough unconfirmed members as it is without needing any more!

I have a friend that's been working on something like this for some time now. I just emailed them this link, hopefully it'll help them out.

It's a great idea, I know I'd love to have one. :D

Looks like someone is indeed "paying someone to give this attention"

I think the Skewl integration is great.. I've written to the Admin of the site but did not get a response on whether this was destined for public or not..

skippybosco 03-13-2008 06:28 AM

bump.

any work being done on a VBulletin -> Facebook (or Open Social for that matter) integration?

Skewl Campus still has the advantage..

Marco van Herwaarden 03-13-2008 07:05 AM

Please request such a modfication in the correct forum.
