Any word yet on when VBulletin plans to release it's "myspace" type software?

I'm really looking forward to this update/addon. But haven't heard much about it lately.. anyone have any news on it?

Jelsoft mentioned it being part and parcel of vBulletin 3.7.0 I believe.?

This means that all existing vBulletin customers will gain the social networking component (although they can of course disable it through the control panel should they decide to do so) when they upgrade to the version of vBulletin that contains it, rather than having to purchase additional products.

We look forward to bringing you both vBulletin Blog and the vBulletin 3.7, which will contain the social networking component and a few other new features.

I'm a little confused to what this social networking component will offer us?

Is it basically the same thing like we see on these other socialnetworking sites?

You can create a photo gallery with a detailed profile and people leaving you comments/rating you, add buddies, add favourites and all that jazz? If so, then I might trash my PhotoPost hack.

That would B- Beauts if they complete soon... Good Luck vBulletin Staff...

Im currently using some myspace stuff on some of my clients sites and they love it, but if vBull intergrates this that would be even more delightful and make it easy for folks with less coder time and know how...

Keep the ball rolling:up:

According to the developers at vb.com, Social networking will be included with 3.7. Also, according to Wayne at vb.com, the SN does include enhanced profiles, comments on profiles, and much more. Alot like myspace, but much better, and of course, with official vB support.

What about creating your own photo-gallery and being rated?

IF they do a photo gallery, I'm assuming it will be a separate add-on. I don't see that happening tho. With vBPicGallery out there, as well as photopost, I wouldn't count on it.

thx for the link :)

The interactive profile hack is super easy to customize, and photoplog puts out a great gallery.

both hacks are free :)

SEOvB 09-04-2007 09:55 PM

But aren't officaly supported by vBulletin which is what alot of people want to see and enjoy.

Also, there is no gaurente of those hacks being updated for future versions and the such as well :(

I can't wait for this. And I agree with FRDS - I want support from vbulletin. Plus it has more potential for improvement. ;)
