Zoints or vBSEO?

I'm really new to this, don't even know enough about coding to effectively edit my Myspace page. But I'm wondering which of these two programs, Zoints or vBSEO, should I have my programmer upload to my forum?

What I want is the ability to create a static URL for each of my forums, choosing the names myself, to be relevant to the page. Also I want a static URL automatically generated for each thread a user starts, containing the title of the thread in the URL.

From what I understand both of these programs will do this, but do either one have benefits the other doesn't?

- Thanks

Of course Zoints..... 10/10

vBSEO has a lot more features and if properly configured, can be very nice to have. But if all you want is URL rewrites, Zoints is the way to go. Many of the things that vBSEO does via options can be easily done with a few bits of coding. I have 2 vBSEO licenses and if I can go back and redo my sites, I wouldn't install vBSEO. I'm not sure how Zoints rewrite works, I've never tried it but I'll assume it has the same rewrite options vBSEO has. With that being said, I would do some research into SEO'ing vbulletin and I would go with Zoints to get the nice URL rewrites.

Thanks for the feedback I've gotten so far. Sounds like the people on this forum have a lot of knowledge to share. You guys are awsome.

I installed vBSEO few months ago, my results in Google dropped from 10,000 to 4000!!! Anyways, i am still waiting for atleast the 6 months so I can see real results.

also, there is no real plus site in installing any seo. yeah u will get nice looking url's but that's about it. look at the bigger forums, do they have any nice urls? nope.

You can use both, just disable the Zoints Rewrite as some features of vbulletin will not work with Zoints at times like the "View First Post" button.

Yeah, like he said, most of the LARGE forums don't have SEO products. All you need to do is do a few template edits and get your h1 and h2 tags set, remove a few things for guests and you'll be better off. And that way you won't have to worry about these products taking up server load...which will make you upgrade to a better (more expensive) server.

Also, I followed joey's guide on vbulletin-faq. Works for me.

I have tried vbSEO and it's not all what it's hyped up to be.. Support is very slow, c/p is not very well done, and it will increase your server load like crazy. Never tried Zoints so I don't have any input there, God luck in whatever you choose.

For what you are wanting to do Zoints sounds like a better solution.

I used Zoints but dropped it to go with vBSEO (zoints broke a coupe of my mods that my members wanted back) and have been very happy with it. I have not lost any pages with Google and have increased with Yahoo. I also have found support over at vBSEO to respond in a timely manner.

I will agree on the admin panel - it is sorely lacking, but that is a small thing over all.

Agreed.

And the free VBSEO is crap dont bother lol.

My only suggestion is from our own personal research. Since we installed vbSEO at launch time, we didnt have any threads already indexed, and thus couldnt "lose" any listings with Google. I had a good friend who installed it on his 2 year old forum, and he lost links at first, but now his overall exposure in the search engines has doubled.
