What broswer do you use?

Vote in the poll and see what the most used browser is at vbulletin.org! :)

I'm using Mozilla FireFox

Paul M 08-15-2007 07:03 AM

I use IE6 still.

(If I remember tonight, I'll look in our stats).

Freezerator 08-15-2007 07:17 AM

IE 7 & FF 2

Home and work computer ;)

cheat-master30 08-15-2007 09:09 AM

Firefox 2. I very, very rarely use Internet Explorer 7.

Shelley_c 08-15-2007 11:28 AM

Primarily Firefox and forcefully IE6 for styling purposes.

G0F0RBR0KE 08-15-2007 11:58 AM

Internet Explorer 7.0 and Internet Explorer 6

Mass 08-15-2007 12:35 PM

I still use the old school I.E. 6, I'm not a big fan of 7.

Wayne Luke 08-15-2007 12:42 PM

Should have been multiple choice. While IE7 is my primary browser, I use Firefox, Opera, Safari 3 and Konqueror for testing purposes. None of my computers have IE6 anymore.

Princeton 08-15-2007 01:47 PM

Firefox is the most used browser in vBulletin.org - 52%.
Out of the 52%, about 95% are using Firefox 2.0+.

:D

Looks like someone beat me to it ;)

Ryoutou 08-15-2007 05:50 PM

Firefox all the way. I have no philosophic hatred for Microsoft, but IE renders terribly, has caching issues, and is just so irritating that I feel badly for anyone who still uses it :(

That said I do a lot of time trying to work around issues for our IE users, and have been doing that for years it seems like.

G.X.Tournaments 08-15-2007 06:50 PM

I have 2 OS's on my PC and XP uses Firefox and Vista uses IE, I don't know why (maybe it's my GFX card) but there is some issue in Vista with Firefox for me that when you scroll down it would like 'judder' so to speak... It's hard to explain ;).

no mods 08-16-2007 04:01 PM

How come aol aint up there haha, i use it and opera.

unenergizer 08-16-2007 05:56 PM

I havent used AOL in years, but if I remember right don't they use Internet Explorer?

no mods 08-16-2007 06:20 PM

No if you have aol internet like me its like its own browser.

unenergizer 08-16-2007 06:30 PM

I remember when AOL 4.0 came out it was using Internet Explorer. Also I believe they still use Internet Explorer in their service. IT may not say IE, but I believe it is. The reason I say this I was testing out multiple browsers with my IE png fix, and when I applied the fix, it also fixed AOL's browser.

cheat-master30 08-16-2007 07:35 PM

I think it's a slightly modified version of Internet Explorer. Seriously, I upgraded Internet Explorer to version 7 and there was the option in AOL to open new tabs or the like but it was greyed out and not usable. I since stopped using it for obvious reasons.

Besides, if every browser was listed here, it would be a massive list.

Its a shell on the Internet Explorer Engine. They tried to switch to the Netscape engine at one point but Microsoft was going to charge them $750 million to have AOL icons on the desktop with all new versions of Windows so they abandoned that plan. So AOL couldn't use their own property and eventually laid off all the developers and spun it off to Mozilla. (long story short)

Brandon Sheley 08-17-2007 12:08 AM

firefox all the way ;)

iogames 08-17-2007 01:07 AM

FIREFOX SuperCharged! :D I just use IE for my MSN account, can't avoid it...

projectego 08-17-2007 02:21 PM

Firefox user right here. ;)

Lea Verou 08-18-2007 05:27 PM

Firefox and rarely IE7. I was really surprised to learn that Paul M is on IE6 and he's such a good coder

young coder 08-19-2007 11:13 AM

I'm using Mozilla FireFox

punchbowl 08-19-2007 11:18 AM

firefox renders vbulletin far faster imho. I've had issues with adsense below the navbar locking up ie too.

Quillz 08-21-2007 02:50 PM

I went with Opera, although I'm actually using Camino at the moment.

Roxie 08-21-2007 02:55 PM

My kids use IE7 on their XP machine.
I use Firefox on my Vista. :D

What Wayne said

Calash 08-21-2007 05:33 PM

Firefox as my primary at home
IE 7 for testing at home
IE 6 as my primary at work
Konqueror for testing at home, or my primary when I am on my laptop
Safari if I am in our lab using the iMac

Kirk Y 08-21-2007 07:56 PM

Firefox all the way.

unenergizer 08-24-2007 03:14 PM

FireFox seems to be pretty damn popular on this site. I guess that dosen't surprise me, but most of the views I get on my site are about 75% IE. Crazy..

It's not "Crazy" .. you just have to understand the audience (your target group).

Guest210212002 08-29-2007 03:14 PM

any site catering to internet technologies, programming or webmasters will see the opposite of what most non-tech sites see ... most webmasters use firefox.

the rest of the world still uses IE but seems to be slowly moving away from it ... but frankly ... most users just don't care ... until their system gets hosed yet again and they finally decide to take the advice of the person fixing it. ;)

new browsers = more headaches (more browsers to troubleshoot)

That browser looks promising. I've personally never heard of it, but I may download it to give it a test. If you have personally used this, how does it compare to firefox?

Maxthon is a shell application that uses the Internet Explorer engine for rendering pages on the user's computer.

Dan 08-29-2007 07:53 PM
