Exactly what I'm thinking. :p

If you transposed a human face onto a silverback gorilla, gave him a baseball bat and a giants jersey, well - he could pass for Barry Bonds.

I think he is despicable.

projectego 08-08-2007 11:19 AM

You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but just who is Barry Bonds?

iogames 08-08-2007 03:20 PM

LOL funny all of you!:p

Here's the news on BBC... Uff!

Isn't that Poshy as Beckham, but this one really plays ;)

Ah, Baseball ....

Something that only seems to be popular in the US - never really understood it much, allthough I gather a 'home run' is when you go all the way round in one go ?

I'd pay big money to see the best Rugby team in the world play football against the any NFL Team lol.. I still don't get why people insist on comparing the two against each other. They are different sports period.

back on topic tho.. Barry who? oh, you mean the dude that had to cheat to reach a mile stone. Yah.. congrats cheater.

nexialys 08-09-2007 12:25 PM

damn american football.. they even NEVER play with their feet (ok, once of twice per match)... i suppose it's the american dream!

when you go on Barry Bond's official website, there is a video of the last homerun he made...

ok, when it's an exploit, maybe... but they post a video of each of his homerun... they update that count each day (ok, the front page is not updated that quickly)...

this is selfishness and arrogant... like a serial killer who shoot his victims and post each of them on the net...

and when that guy hit the ball 200 feets away from the stadium, do you seriously think it's human ?!... the stadium was built way larger than any human capacity to hit that far...

Ahh, i always thought a homerun was when everyone went back home after the game was finished. ;)

American football was developed over the years from Rugby (or a game played like Rugby...can't remember). Over the years the rules were modified/added for one reason or another.

Read up on the history of American football if you ever get time...it's really interesting stuff. :)

As for baseball I can't stand watching it but I did play on a few teams as a kid. Still love playing...just hard to find enough people that are willing to these days. ;)

Paul/Marco; A home run is made when the player up to bat hits the ball "out of the park". If the bases are loaded (a player is on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and the person up to bat hits a home run then it's called a "Grand Slam".

O and if you think we love this sport you outa check out some Japanese baseball games lol.

Marco van Herwaarden 08-10-2007 04:42 PM

Lol Brad.

Thought you knew us good enough not to take that bait and give a serious answer to it. :D :D

You caught me sober. ;)

Paul M 08-10-2007 07:25 PM

Thanks Brad, I really didn't know exactly what a home run was. :)

I should mention that you were correct. As long as you round all the bases in one go it's called a home run. Doing that without hitting the ball out of the park is very rare these days though. :)

Zachery 08-10-2007 08:47 PM

You can also get an in the park home run, insanely rare, I'm pretty sure one of the new japanese players in the MLB have done it though.

nexialys 08-10-2007 09:48 PM

ok, can we talk cribbage for a moment ?!

.... lol

OT!

Oops sorry to hear that. ;)

@Paul
You got me fooled then.

For anyone that's interested, there's a pretty good (and pretty long) story about Bonds and his chemists here.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...06/growth0313/

I say congrats to Hank Aaron for setting the record without the assistance of chemicals.

They're actually not that rare. Just saw one a few days ago in fact. Things like no hitters, perfect games, and the ever elusive un-assisted triple play are much more seldom.

Yea i know they're not as uncommon as the other things you've listed. I don't think I've seen one even when I used to watch alot of baseball.
