how to remove "powered by vbulletin" in the browser?
hi,
when I click on forum in my navbar then it always appears "powered by vbulletin" on the top of the browser (where it is blue and it shows the firefox logo then then name of my forum and then "powered by vbulletin" and then Mozilla Firefox. How can I remove "powered by vbulletin" and if possible "Mozilla Firefox"? |
Go to your ADMINCP> Language & Phrases> Search in Phrases
In your Phrases Search for: x_powered_by_vbulletin (be sure to choose to search by Phrase Text and Phrase Variable Name) Edit the phrase. Simply change it from {1} - Powered by vBulletin to {1} SO your just deleting - Powered by vBulletin |
by the way...does this effect the search engines?
|
Yes, in a positive way. :)
|
By deleting the "Powered by Vbulletin" bit then, will it help increase our search engine rankings?
|
well yes because your title is more specific
there are 1000's of boards with "powered by vbulletin" thats throw the SE's off it think.......lol |
Ah, that would make sense, yes. :)
|
I just removed it from mine too.
Thanks everyone. :D |
Yeah, thanks!
|
Isn't doing that a violation of the jelsoft user agreement? I think you're supposed to purchase the branding free option to remove those things if I'm not mistaken.
|
no the branding free means you can remove the footer info (and maybe other stuff), the title tag removal does not violate this policy
(to the best of my knowledge, and i have seen this very question asked A LOT) |
Yep, I still have the "Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.5
Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. down in the footer. |

Really? I thought that was the one you had to buy a brand free license for.
But maybe that is what we are talking about. |

The question was about the - Powered by vBulletin in the title at the top of your browser. |
Yep, I totally get that.
Its a very cool thing to be able to get rid of it. |
i found the phrase x_powered_by_vbulletin (standard phrase), but when i edit it it says english translation, iam not sure if i can follow u guys
|
That's correct. You make the edit in the the translation box.
|
so i have phrases now... one like Standard phrase ( {1} - Powered by vBulletin ) and above is English US translation {1}
Do i have to activate it or just wait for the spider to crawl coz its still says Powered by Vbulletin on search engine? |
My mistake. Just directly edit the "Text" box and click save. You don't need to translate unless you are changing it to a different language.
You'll need to wait for the spider to recrawl. |

Thanks for Help Dilmah, but i dont have a "edit" when i edit x_powered_by_vbulletin
Standard Phrase: x_powered_by_vbulletin (id: 3051) Product vbulletin Varname $vbphrase[x_powered_by_vbulletin] Text {1} - Powered by vBulletin ----> here is NO Edit Button This is strange... i hope i did it right like on the pic shown. |
I put a ton of keywords in the box .... isn't this prime real estate for keywords and SEO?
|
If you want your browser title to be that, sure.
|
Are there any other tricks like this to move up in search engines , like are alot of key words good or should i keep it short and simple?
