Merge members on two vB forums?

I have two vB communites, one with over 400 members and the other one with about 30 members.

They are not the same but similar interests. That is, some members want to be members on both sites.

Is there a way to combine the databases and join the user tables so that when you register on one site you automatically become a member on the other site?

If so, how do I go about doing this?

Thanks!

get it in your member section at vb.com

I'm not sure if I understand. Are you telling me that I can use Impex to merge the two databases but still run two different sites? I don't mind merging the databases but the only table I want to have the same on the two sites is the user table. Can I do this with Impex?

Thanks!

Impex is only for merging the DB's, your not going to get a join on both sites when some one registers, you will need a custom hack for that part.

Why are so many people interested in sharing users now?

because it' cool :)
seriously: I will have one major portal but have a few other killer domains and would like for them to have their own life. However, it will say that this is part of the of the network so people should be able to use the name /password.

Oh.. I misunderstood you.

There is a mod here at vb.org that will allow two sites to share a user DB.. I think it might be buggy tho, just something I remember seeing.

I'm at that point again and would love a solution to this. This time it should be easier because I'm not doing any merging. I have one site fully functional. I want to setup a similar forum in a different language using the same members so they can use both forums but just one login. Did anyone find a hack for this? Please let me know. Thanks!

Again - how a look at the many other threads. A proposed solution was to use MySQL views.

I've been searching and searching but can't find anything.
