World of Warcraft Recruitment Form

What does this Mod do?
[hr].[/hr]

This is a customizable recruitment form for use with World of Warcraft. It has full customizations and style features built in via vboptions. There are no form edits, template edits, etc. of any kind necessary.

Current Version
[hr].[/hr]

Current Version = 1.0.3

What is required?
[hr].[/hr]

You will essentially need to perform:
  • One product XML import
Features of this Mod
[hr].[/hr]
  • All customization options are right in vboptions!
  • 3 vboption sections to set options for your form.
  • Ability to turn on/off every section and every question (other than generic character)
  • Ability to toggle on custom questions per section
  • Ability to set font and highlight colors for the form and answer sections
  • Fully integrated Character Information Section
  • All character information built systematically so you gain as much information as needed.
  • Class, level, race, attunements, keys, heroics, gear, talents, resists, professions, days played
  • 2 extra custom questions for CI section
  • Fully integrated Personal Information Section
  • Gender, Age, timezone, referrals, active play times, special questions, personality and disposition, previous guild information, summary sections
  • 2 extra custom questions for PI section
  • Ability to debug any form questions and answers.
  • Fully integrated via your own website style and active inherits that style.
  • More than 40 questions to choose and select from.
  • Able to set redirects to forums, threadids, PMs, email.
  • Able to integrate polls and decide on public/private views.
  • Able to set group permissions for using the form.
Instructions
[hr].[/hr]
  • Import the product file through your admincp.
  • Go into your vboptions section and you will find 3 sections. I will briefly outline them below:
Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Configuration Settings
  • Houses all of the generic settings for your form, including name, summary options, redirect options, and many more features.
Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Form Settings
  • Houses all of the settings for your form, including faction, level access, and toggle on/off settings for sections and all questions.
Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Form Style Settings
  • Houses one font, and 4 color header sets that you can color code.
Once finished, remember to write down whatever name you set in the configuration setting for your "What is the default URL for your form?". The default is "wow_form". In order to access your form you need to set a URL link to:

http://yourdomain.com/yourforums/new...hp?do=wow_form

.. with the ending only changing if you decide to change this configuration setting in vboptions.

All of the vboptions have full title/descriptions so understanding what they do and how to work them should be a piece of cake, even for the most novice of users. If, however, you still have questions or concerns, please direct them here. Please remember that I only provide support for those that click "INSTALL".

By clicking INSTALL you not only receive support but anytime I make a newer version or provide feature updates, you receive them via mail.

Changes
[hr].[/hr]

Version 1.0.1 Fixes
  • Fixed the question 3 and question 4 answers as they were pointing to incorrect variables.
Version 1.0.1 Changes
  • Completely vbphrased all English and gaming terms in the addon. You can now adjust phrases and change the wording for yourself. This was especially important for European communities that might want to change the languages.
  • Go into admincp->languages and phrases-> and perform a search against the product using the "w" character as the search term. You will find all of the phrases that are editable here. The terms are "wow_form_(etc)".
Version 1.0.2 Changes & Fixes
  • Fixed vboptions for groups being checked even when toggled off. Now if you toggle groups ON, it only works if you actually add group numbers, and if you toggle it off, it does not check for groups.
  • Fixed answer template for newattunement keys.
  • Fixed linking for what you enjoy most to being linked with the timezone enable.
  • Fixed/Added vbphrasing for HEROIC, RAID, etc. keyphrases on answer template.
  • Addon is now completely phrased or optioned.
Version 1.0.3 Fixes
  • Fixed the list problem with the answer template for BC Instances
  • Fixed the answer template variables for answers 27 and 28.

I'm very very tired so I will follow-up with any questions on this addon tomorrow. Enjoy fellow gamers.

You know, perfect timing for release. I've been looking for interesting WoW Mods for my guild's forum and this one is amazing. It's going to help us all out with the recruitment and be much more organized. Thanks alot!

Gooner 06-23-2007 10:39 AM

all i can say is "WOW", your amaizing. Fantastic work !!!!

elricstorm 06-23-2007 12:12 PM

On the next version release, I will be moving all of the current non-vboption editable questions to vbphrases so that european communities can change the language. This will include headers and template information. I just wanted to get the addon up there for EN communities. EU communities are next. :)

Hey and don't forget to vote!

Only bugs I've found are that if you use optional question 3 and 4 it's giving me the answers from 1 & 2, also there's a bit of code showing through at the top and bottom.

http://www.rivalnation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109

I could probably fix these really easily, but I wanted to you to see what it was doing first. I have made no changes to the code.

elricstorm 06-25-2007 01:06 AM

Thanks for the catch on the optional questions. I just double checked and I did accidentally plug in the answer variables for those two questions. I'll fix that in the next version. As for the code:

Code:

<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: wow_formanswers -->
<!-- END TEMPLATE: wow_formanswers -->

That has nothing to do with code "within" the product, that's vbulletin calling a template. Those are html commenting open and closed tags used by vbulletin when it says it's calling a template file. If you go into the view source on that recruitment application you will see vbulletin calling other templates. It might be an option or style problem. This does not happen on either my test or main site.

In otherwords, it's not a product problem but most likely an option or style problem on your end.

This works great except no matter what I do no one else can access this. They can an access denied page.

~Update: I had to include the forum # to make it show.

Okay, let's start with the basics.

First, go to vboptions > elricstorm's world of warcraft configuration settings >

..

Find the following two options:

Turn on Usergroup Permissions (if this is set to 1 then you have permissions enabled)

If set to 1, then find:

Enter usergroup numbers able to access this form.

The usergroup numbers are very important if you have this option turned on. To find usergroup numbers you simply do the following:

Go to admincp>usergroups>usergroup manager.

To the far right of each usergroup there is an ID number. Write down the ID numbers of the groups you "want" to be able to access this form. Enter them into your 'Enter usergroup numbers able to access this form' line, separating them with commas.

Please note, do not make the common mistake that many others do with usergroups and that is they move a user completely out of "registered" and into a special custom group and assume they are in the "registered" group. If you go to any of your users and you see that their main group is "Officer" and then you see that they are in some more special groups, then this means you need to enable the officer group to be able to use the form. I hope that makes sense. Most usergroup issues can be avoided if people leave the main group as "registered" and then add people to custom groups from there.

However, this is an easy customizable feature. Let me know if that helps.

Remember, if you toggle this on, and you set it to specific permission usergroups, then those persons have to be logged in to access the form.

Also, in the future, if you want further assistance you need to click on installed. I only support people that install the product.

Edit: going to add a detailed example. :)

Registered Users = ID 2
Administrators = ID 6
Moderators = ID 7

Let's say you have these three groups set to enabled. What this means is anyone that is "registered", or an administrator or a moderator can access the form. Now, let's say you have some custom groups:

Officer = ID 13
Class Leader = ID 14
Guild Member = ID 15

The safe thing to do is to enable all of these groups doing:

2,6,7,13,14,15 in the usergroup box in the vboptions section

What I was suggesting above is that you may have moved your users to a custom group by taking them out of the registered group, and accidentally assumed they were still registered due to some sort of progression. This was the common mistake I was referring to. And, the only reason I mention it is because "I did it myself!" :)

Ulkesh 06-25-2007 02:50 AM

I think I love you, man. :) I've been using the old Forms hack that you based yours off, and dread any time I have to go into the damned thing to change questions or layouts and such. :) Thank you for making this so very much easier. I (and my sanity) appreciate it.

ssslippy 06-25-2007 03:48 AM

I actually have the allowed usergroups set to 0 as I want it to be ignored.

jheigl 06-25-2007 04:10 AM

any way you could make one for Enemy Territory, or a generic one that I could use? This one looks great and I would really love to use it!

I saw that you edited your other post. So did you solve your issue? And, yes, I know there are a ton of toggle on/off features. Normally I provide a .chm file of some sort so that everyone can get a greater idea of the product and what you can do with it. I'll try to do that in an upcoming release.

Right now I'm just working on fixing two question issues and the phrasing. Once that's done, I'll update to version 1.0.1.

Thanks,

This was precisely the reason why I created it in the first place. I wanted to cut my site administration duties down a bit and I couldn't expect non-coders to be able to change the form.

And, this is going to be even more customizable as I upgrade it. This is just the starter product. :)

Don't forget to click "install" mate. :)

I'll look into that. I don't recall seeing any issue like that on my own site, but it could be something small I missed.

Yeah I found out what I missed. Thanks for the catch mate.

This code here:

PHP Code:

$usergroups_enable $vbulletin->options['wow_usergroups_enable'];
$groupnos str_replace(" """$vbulletin->options['wow_usergroup_numbers']);

if (
$groupnos AND !in_array($vbulletin->userinfo['usergroupid'],explode(",",$groupnos ))) {

print_no_permission();

Should be...

PHP Code:

$usergroups_enable $vbulletin->options['wow_usergroups_enable'];
$groupnos str_replace(" """$vbulletin->options['wow_usergroup_numbers']);

if (
$usergroups_enable) {
    if (
$groupnos AND !in_array($vbulletin->userinfo['usergroupid'],explode(",",$groupnos ))) {

print_no_permission();
    }

I'll fix that in the next version. I also want to add a few adjustments. If it bothers you, you can edit that piece in the plugin for now.

Hi Elricstorm.
this pluggin is only for the version 3.6.7?

No, it's only been tested in 3.6.7 and I did not put any dependencies on it except I believe for 3.6.0. I'd have to check again. It could be used for other versions, I'm almost certain of it. However, I've only tested with the latest version. I changed it to 3.6.x so people won't get confused.

Yukino_AE 06-27-2007 05:38 PM

would this work with versions of vb 3.5 x ??

the reason i ask is the php version that my host is running does not meet the requirements of vb 3.6.x yet and they are unwilling to update it at this time. so i'm stuck using vb 3.5.7 and i really would like to use both this mod and your calendar mod but it gives me errors when trying to import the xml files.

is there a way to get those 2 mods to work with vb 3.5.7?? plz? :(

elricstorm 06-27-2007 06:21 PM

Edit the xml and change the dependancy to 3.5.0 and try again. If it works, I'll remove the dependancy altogether.

Ok another bug found When setting Turn on display questions for OLD content attunements/keys. to 0 it disables all output of keys on the post.

ssslippy 06-27-2007 10:29 PM

PHP Code:

<if condition="$oldattunements_enable==1"

is listed 2x in the output section this must be changed to
PHP Code:

<if condition="$newattunements_enable==1"

elricstorm 06-27-2007 10:45 PM

Version 1.0.2 Changes
  • Fixed vboptions for groups being checked even when toggled off. Now if you toggle groups ON, it only works if you actually add group numbers, and if you toggle it off, it does not check for groups.
  • Fixed answer template for newattunement keys.
  • Fixed/Added vbphrasing for HEROIC, RAID, etc. keyphrases on answer template.
  • Addon is now completely phrased or optioned.

I'm sorry mate, I only work with 3.6.0 - 3.6.7 and am not familiar with the coding standards in 3.5.x or where the differences may be. I wish I could be more help to you but that's where I placed the dependency at 3.6.0 as a minimum version I support. There are a lot of new addons/mods for warcraft, but almost all of them will be 3.6.x related. I would suggest creating a test board and attempt updating to 3.6.x.

IMO, it's worth the effort. I originally thought I was going to have a lot of problems upgrading, but it was pretty easily. I even created a tutorial (see my signature) on how to use araxis merge. You can use that software to cross-compare and update your board in a fairly easily amount of time.

That's my suggestion anyways.

Not sure where to start with you mate. This is just a simple product file and it's formatted properly and functions properly. Nothing out of the ordinary or special about the product file.

As it's importing, can you tell me where it's stopping? And, what is listed?

thanks,

sorry for my english.

I have vB 3.6.7 and it did the same thing to me, so I thought I would upload the XML file to ./includes/xml/ after the 3rd attempt to upload from my computer. Suprisingly enough, after I uploaded the XML to that directory, it showed up on the list of mods installed through the Plugin Manager. The options showed up at the bottom of vBulletin Options in the Control Panel.

I dont' know what difference it made to upload it to that directory, because I never added it through the plugin manager after doing so. But, none-the-less, it works =) Hope that helps.

As stated above, if you are having some type of product import issue, just manually upload the xml file to your vbulletin xml directory.
