move directory from /forum to /

Is it possible to move my forum from the /forum directory to the index public directory?

What is the best way to perform this task? Thanks for your help.

Yes, just make sure you make changes to site url etc in the admin cp.

Im not sure that can work. Im trying to get the forum to be the index.
How can I move everything out of the /forum and into the root public_html folder?

thanks for your help

If your ftp client doesn't support moving them directly then download all the files, then upload them again to the new location.

Personally I'd just creat an index.php in the root that redirects anyone to the /forum folder.

Or use .htaccess to redirect them.

I'm looking to do the same thing... Can I just move the files and subfolders in my existing /forum folder over to public_html, then change the url in the admincp? Is there any easy way to update paths to icons, and images?

Thanks,
Jim

I don't have answers, just keep in mind that if your forum is well-established, all links in search engines will not be correct.

I'm not concerned with search engines since I have very few users right now and it's more or less just starting out, not to mention a small guild site for the World of Warcraft game. I'd reinstall everything from scratch but I do have some content and a custom style I really wasn't looking forward to putting back in. :)

Thanks,
Jim

Yes, that's basically it.
