DESCRIPTION

Ever wanted to enchance your members' profiles with a myspace-like public friend list, an ability to post comments about each other and a couple of other special features? Q: Why has this hack been discontinued as a commercial product?
A: It has been discontinued as a commercial product mainly because we found it to be unprofitable compared to the resources required to maintain & develop it. There are also personal and time-related reasons involved, which make it impossible to continue the development of the product.

Q: How is this fair to your current customers?
A: This is fair to our current customers because this is the best way to discontinue a product. This way, our customers can benefit from whatever contributions the community makes to this product, either by supporting or developing it, which would not be possible if the product was left for use exclusively by the customers, or if it was completely erased off of the face of earth. Our customers have gained the right to install the software on any number of sites (as opposed to just one), and the software runs faster due to the fact that it is now open source. Ultimately, if this product's development is continued by this community, our customers will benefit more than if it remained commercial, because we would be unable to support it for the above mentioned reasons.

Q: Can I remove the copyright notice from the footer?
A: If you are a customer, you may, as a compensation, remove the copyright notice from the footer of the software. If you are not, you may not remove the copyright unless you donate at least $10.00 in support for this hack. Regardless of whether or not you are a customer, you must keep the copyright notices elsewhere in the product's package if you choose to redistribute it.

Q: Anything else?
A: Nothing, other than a usual warning to install the software at your risk, and a reminder, that it is no longer supported. It has been tested and confirmed working on vBulletin 3.5.4 through 3.6.7 PL1, however, as with any other hack, there are no guarantees, and the software is provided as-is.

this is a great mod, I should know cause I paid for it..I am bummed that you chose to discontinue it though, thanks for at least upgrading it for 3.6.7 though.

Is the friend system a new friend system, or is it an addition to vB's buddy list?

From what I can see (haven't installed) but it looks like it adds freinds request (similar to myspace), and displays your friends in your profile.

It is an add-on to the vB's buddy list.

This was a commercial hack published at visionscripts.com. Now it is a free hack.

I've been using this mod more then a year and it is really a great profile mod.

i havent been follwing the new add-ons that vb will be offering and i know none of us have a crystal ball but has there been any talk about vb releasing a better profile system or intergrating the blog system directly into users profiles where this could effect this?

are you done w/ this project or will it be updated as vb updates? i just hate to give my users somthing and have them put energy into it and take it away the next upgrade.

This development of this hack has been discontinued, which means that I am not planning to support it. I might, however, supply fixes for compatibility with new vBulletin release should that be necessary.

No, there are no such plans at this moment.

In that case... i think i will have to pass on this one... just have to wait and compare the VB solution... but it does look like you put some good effort into this... I am sure alot of ppl will appreciate this solution...

Okay, that's fine. Just to let you know, however, this hack is stable as it is, and I'd even say that it is more stable than the other similar hacks that are available, including Zoints. It may not have as many features as zoints does, but it can be easily modded and/or customized by other people, now that it is not encoded... :)

Ive had this on my site for over a year. Very good mod and worth the money I paid for it. Not to thrilled about it being free now, but That will now open up more mods to stem from this, so I guess its a good thing. :)

Clicked install and it works straight out of the box ... had to update usergroups before I realised why I couldn't add comments to anyone's profile ;)
