This is my first board and i messed up by transforming the default style into what i wanted instead of creating a custom one starting with the default as a "Blank" Look to rectify this some how and add the default back in .... Any way here it is

Not bad, nice mods. What I'd say can use some improvement is your header perhaps.

raiderlax 06-20-2007 03:25 AM

It actually looks really good, the style suits it in my opinion. Possibly you could add some pictures in the header?

Overall great job!

I've seen your site and I like it a lot!!

The only thing that I would really change is these https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/35.gif not really a huge thing but just to get rid of the defualt icons thats all :)

Nice work. Also nice clip of from dateline :D

DieselMinded 03-08-2009 04:22 PM

To me, it looks really nice actually. You've seemingly customised plenty of things, there are no forums that have no/few posts and look dead, the forum icons are custom and likely fit the theme, and overall it works well. Smilies are also edited.

However, I do have a few, albeit rather minor suggestions. First of all, I'd say to avoid any use of default forum icons anywhere in a forum style, it's a bit of a shame to have most of the images customised and the sub forum icons being default vBulletin:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/34.gif

There are also a few things that look kind of overwhelming to a visitor as well, such as the extremely long welcome message which says:
Quote:

Diesel Bombers is your #1 source for *anything* you need to know about diesel - including trucks, cars, tractors, marine engines, performance parts, fuels, construction/agricultural equipment.

It looks kind of... too much for a first time visitor. For example, on my browser, most of the first screen is welcome message rather than content. On the bright side, you did use inline links to link to content that's relevent to the welcome message, so at least the block of text isn't just a very long wall of text like some cases.

Also, the rules... dear lord, the rules. Needs some kind of spacing badly, because it's pretty much a two page block of text without a break in sight that made it rather difficult for me to read. Yes, I know most people probably don't attempt to read the rules from an FAQ page, but I always like to give some form of constructive criticism rather than being completely positive in all cases.

But overall, it looks good, it's doing well, so keep up the good work with your forum!

THANKS for taking the time to look at my site and give me your tips !!!

I had little bombs and little blown up bombs for the subforums ...it was too much IMO over playing the theme but i will revisit them and do something there

the welcome message is purely an SEO Attribute , with Key Words and ect.. it was built along side of vbseo as they helped me code it , i can make the font smaller so it dont take up too much room . Thanks !

In the rules theres a few things that i think is best to get lost , i intentionally removed all the <br /> ;)

Ill build on these suggestions to make my site better it will be 2 years old in a few days

Thanks again

Definitely make the font smaller. It's informative I guess, just way too much to see at any time.

No problem. And by the rules, you mean like how some ads have font size three disclaimers that scroll by really quickly to hide some stuff like 'unwanted side effects may include' and 'does not come with...'?

DieselMinded 03-08-2009 10:32 PM

Yes , And we can always say its in the rules you agreed too :)

DieselMinded 07-07-2010 05:07 PM

can i get some updated opinions of my site

www.dieselbombers.com

as for the forum read icon , "hot" img is just temporary while i finish the exploded bomb, i had to throw a temp pnp in there because ive already made the template edits to allow png forum status icons .

anyway let me know what you like and hate
