I got my vbulletin site shut down.. Plz Help !!
I was a happy user of servage hosting, until my site got popular and then since, 2 days.. My site got shut down for the second time now.... For server overload.
This is the email i got : Quote:
My vbulletin info: Version : 3.6.4 I have 3 styles , 20+ mods installed. Average users online per day : 500-700 Tried looking up some information on dedicated servers but terms like "Xeon" ,"Woodcrest" , "Switch Port" really scared me :( . Also, dedicated servers offer not more than 1000 Gb bandwidth for 100$+ !!!! but servage claims to offer me 3600 GB bandwidth for 7$ a month for shared hosting !! Is this a rip-off ..?? or whats the hidden thing i dont see ???? Thanks for your help in advance. |
They said it is not bandwith, it is server load. Get a VPS, it is really the only solution.
|
Any chance you are using vbshout?
|
Listen to ultimate. If you're forum is that big, get a VPS.
PS - 3.6 TB of BW for 7 dollars? I think their overselling.... |
What's the activity going around your site?

Just get a VPS. NetworkSoulutions.com is a good VPS place. I dont know if they have it anymore though.
|
I'm using KnownHost.com's service & I prefer KnownHost. Their support is awesome.

PowerVPS.com is the absolute best hosting that I've ever had in ~8 years running websites. Their staff and support are outstanding, and they have packages that will suit you fine.
|
We use SliceHost.com..it's been awesome.. they even have a chat support where the owners hang out and answer questions!
|
No, stop getting a VPS. I'm giving you this advice from the bottom of my heart and I don't want you to go through all the troubles and issues that I had while I was on VPS. I got my own VPS just a few weeks ago but it didn't do any good to me so I had no other choice but to go for a dedicated. VPS is STILL considered as shared virtual private hosting so it's not really a good idea to go for. I never ever had such big issues while I was on shared hosting until I've moved to VPS. I highly recommend you to get any of the dedicated plans by Liquid Web. At least, that's where I got my dedicated a couple of days ago and I gotta say that I'm really impressed with the change so far. Your forum is definitely huge as it is already so you must get a dedicated one. The webmaster series will do just fine. ;]

I average 500+ online at any given time with half a million posts on a VPS from PowerVPS with no problems at all, and still room to expand on my current VPS plan.

You can try JaguarPC.com ... have been with them for 2+yrs excelent support.
or you can WHT Forums for special offers Dedicated Offers : http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36 VPS : http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 You can get 10Mbps pr 100Mbps unlimited line with a dedicated server even thought it quite expensive |

When my forum got too busy for shared, I went to VPS, and didn't last too too long there, either. I bounced around from dedicated host to dedicated host, and landed at Liquid Web a few months ago. THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED. When you have a problem, you just pick up the phone, and there's someone there to take your call who can generally fix the problem while you're on the line. Go with VPS if your site 'growth' is slow, but if you're growing at even a moderate pace, you'll outgrow a VPS in short order and end up looking for a dedicated solution. In the meantime...run, don't walk, to Liquid Web. (Btw, I found them after noticing another 'big board' that was running [smoothly]. they were using Liquid web) |

What I did was went VPS1 then to VPS2 when I outgrew it, and since I was in the same datacentre, when I outgrew the VPS2 and had to go to dedicated, all the upgrades were seamless and I suffered no downtime. Liquidweb all the way! |
I am with FluidHosting.com and am paying $150 a month for a dedicated server. War, I feel your frustration because I had the same thing happen to me when I was with my last server company.
Send me an email at gobears20@baylorfans.com and I will give you the contact person who owns FluidHosting. I have been with five different server companies and this is by far the best one that I have been with. They have the best customer service that I have ever seen! I send an email and receive confirmation that they received it in less than five minutes. My server is: PowerEdge 750 Rackmount Server P4/2.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB 1 GB memory 80 GB SATA drive I average anywhere from 1.7-3 million page views a month and my message board is 1.7GB on SQL. I am about to upgrade my memory to four gb;'s on this server. Take my advice and whatever you do, research companies before you make a jump. Send me a PM or an email and I can give you the head person, because they specialize in VB message boards. I also have around 20 mods running on my VB right now. You can visit my message board to see how well it runs... http://www.baylorfans.com Sincerely, Jason |
Try here www.knownhost.com i'm with them and i've never had a problem :D DiGi

personnally long long story with this ripper company
always blocking my website and today i found : The *** Arabic Sat *** database has encountered a problem. i contacted them and they say problem in ur Vbulletin am really ripped by this company and dunno what to do :s |
<font color="darkgreen">What about liquidweb being located in AU? Does the location matter in respect to the majority of your members?
I hear good things about them and am considering switching from networksolutions. NetSol absolutely sucks. I have never had such problems with any company's services like this before. Stay away from all their webhosting services, seriously.</font> |
I am about to sign-up with KnownHost, however I don't know what options to choose.
WHAT DO I NEED? lol! I've been hosted for 6 years with the same company but have now outgrown them. What do I need to get up and running? Here's a list of the VPS options for knownhost. Additional IPs: No WHMCS: No ??? ClientExec: No ??? Control Panel: cPanel/WHM $5.00 (or Webmin, DirectAdmin, or Plesk) cPanel Fantastico: No ??? cPanel RVSkin: No ???? Plesk PowerPack: No ???? RAM Upgrade: +64MB $5.00 Disk Space: 10GB Monthly Traffic: 200 GB |
I also run servage hosting, they are tottally crap for hosting.
they claim to offer brilliant things, but they dont. my hosting hosts like 20 sites on it, but when i ran my proxy sites they received like 400,000 page views a day and they shut me down every day. i rekon you should go for another host.. And when you think about it, witha vbulletin site, the likeliness of using over 1TB of bandwidth a month is unlikely. |
