Looking for web software for "myspace" type site

I'm trying to find some software to allow users to create usernames/passwords, then eaisly be able to upload photos, videos, and have text sections similar to myspace, cardomain, and the like. it will be a car oriented site so anything car specific would be great!

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ascor 06-06-2007 02:37 PM

I suggest you wait, before end of this month we should have more information about this:

can't wait..

looks pretty cool, however in reading through the threads about it, it looks like they're putting more work into the "blog and project" side of it than the social community part, content managment part. Wonder when it'll be released? I bet not till first part of 2008.

TruthElixirX 06-06-2007 07:30 PM

<a href="http://www.phpfox.com/" target="_blank">http://www.phpfox.com/</a>

Never used it. Also I believe Zoints had a social content type thing, but after they sold out I'm not sure if it is still available.

vuiveclub_net 06-06-2007 08:44 PM

PhpFox is probably better than MYSPACE. I bought 2 Licenses and now I want to sell 1 of them. Tell me if you are interest.

Strike3ForumsMH 06-07-2007 03:11 AM

Zoints is indeed still active, plus we have several built in modules for the car enthusiast. It might not be for you, but it is a free option that I think has several happy customers.

phpfox is a little closer to what I'm looking for. I'm really looking for an image hosting program with a little more feature's involved. so that my members aren't forced to use my site only for their media, they can use their media from my stie on other sites.

Alfa1 06-07-2007 04:07 PM

There are several parties holding their release of social networking / profile enhancement software for vbulletin, until Jelsoft releases their add on. Also see: Best profile enhancement

PhpFox have this mod. They can even have the Video Mod like Youtube. They going to have multilanguage in the next version. There are many plugins for Phpfox avaiable for FREE and support by Phpfox team.

Eric 06-08-2007 10:02 AM

IMHO, phpfox is... crap. Sorry.

There are free solutions out there..

Dolphin
phpizabi

Euda 06-14-2007 09:33 PM

Before using phpfox, I strongly suggest that you read their forums.

I bought mine in Jan 2007, tested it solo until March 2007, then let my staff test it for the rest of March into April. It's EXTREMELY SERVER INTENSIVE. As of right now, my site is down due to the server useage.

Support? You gotta be kidding me, again read their forums.

Free mods, yea there's a few, most are paid and range from $35-$150 per mod.

As I stated before, please please please read their forums before you think about buying it. I'm already looking for an alternative.

go with www.boonex.com

Jenkins 06-15-2007 02:14 AM

yep, i've been on PHPfox's site, I'm very un-impressed. I think Dolphin looks nice. however none really offer exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something like photobucket, but with a community side as well, but more emphasis on the media hosting.

cyberphr 06-15-2007 06:47 AM

phpFox is used by MySpace, but it was edited somewhat.

Haha, no. phpFox is coded in PHP. MySpace is coded in Cold Fusion and predates phpFox.

Hello everyone,

I'm glad to announce that my team has been developing a high quality Web 2.0 MySpace and hi5 script that will be sold to webmasters much like phpFox, but out difference will be the quality of our software, think of a Facebook script for webmasters.

Its name is phpRaven.

It includes all the features of Facebook, myspace, hi5, and other social networks.

Some of the main features include:
  • Fully customizable (CSS)
  • MySpace Layout Function (Where members can use their own layouts)
  • Fully Integrated Video Uploading Function
  • Full Integration with vBulleting, IPB, SMF, among others
  • phpFox, Handshakes database transfer tool.
  • High Quality Layouts
  • and much more!

It will be finished in 3 months, a beta version should be available soon.

Ok, I'm really waiting for this, since your hacks are so all-in-one solutions...
But can you tell me if it matches Zoints or??? [off of the record ;)]

Honestly, I don't know how Zoints is working. vbClubs is based on the following phylosophy:
  • Use of your forum's registration
  • Use of your forum's style
  • Use of your forum's usergroups
The heart of the module is a Club

Every Club (a user can have multiple clubs according to his usergroup's permissions), can be public (without registration) or private (with registration). Club owner can setup his own registration questions (text, radio, checkbox, drop lists, multiselect, textarea).

Every Club will have:
  • Blogs
  • Galleries
  • Videos
  • eShop (with PayPal payments feature)
  • Dating
  • Events (with registration/payment feature)
  • eCard
According to Club's owner decision any of his posts in his club (eg an eCard) can be available to Club Members only or to all Members.

That's the most important points.

Later on. It's impossible to include in ver 1.0 all the features. For the moment every part will have it's own (top banner) and every category in every part will have its own (bottom banner).

I'd be happy to beta test it, this sounds good I will install it at www.tinternetworld.com that is if you consider me

fattony,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed.

To be able to download hacks and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (vB-Germany users click here, vB-Chinese users click here) and enter your email address, to show us that you are licensed. You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

The update of your account can take up to one hour.

Thank you.

Looks interesting, can we see a demo/beta?

Jenkins 06-27-2007 06:40 PM

i would like a non v-bulletin integrated solution, as I forsee a lot of my users hosting their images off of my page on other vbulletin sites. If I tried to promote my v-bulletin site off of someone elses they tend to get a little unhappy.

EJRaven 07-08-2007 07:35 AM

phpRaven can be integrated with vBulletin, but unlike MadebyMary's scripts, phpRaven can run on its own database and be integrated with IPB, Wordpress, and Joomla which gives phpRaven a versatility other scripts lack.

We are hoping for a September/October 2007 release of our Beta.

I think that here is a forum for vBulletin and not for IPB, Wordpress, Joomla etc. And there is a big difference between "integrated" with vBulletin and "Build in" vBulletin. And finally who told you that vbClubs will not have versions for IPB etc etc. But these version will be special versions to be "Buildin" IPB and not integrated.
