Default Usergroup upon Registration

If you have installed version 1.0.0 please read the "readme.txt" for instructions on how to remove the file edits.
================================================== ==============

I've read some threads asking "How do I have newly registered users inserted into another usergroup besides the current default one"?
I created this simple hack to allow anyone to change the default usergroup to whichever one they choose.

How to install
Download the product XML. Go into to your ACP --> Plugins & Products --> Manage Products click "[Add/Import Product]". Browse to the product you have just downloaded and click "Import".

To change the default usergroup go into your ACP --> vBulletin Options --> User Registration Options. It will be at the bottom titled "Default Usergroup".

Sorry about the file edit but I didn't see any other way.

thanks for the efforts. I'll check this out sometime in the next few days

I usually don't resort to file changes. However, this is a great hack for my future plans.

Thanks.

harmor19 05-29-2007 10:16 PM

I am redoing the hack so it doesn't need file edits.

I have recoded this hack to use the plugin system. You do not have to edit the PHP file anymore!!

Neat Idea...

I'm thinking of using this in conjusction with https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=135771

I'm thinking of a "Newbies" usergroup where new users would go until they reach a certain amount of posts then they would move up a group ...

How would I go about this ......

JohnSilver 05-30-2007 06:44 AM

hmm..
so strange..
my search haven't found any of this codes

Code:

else if ($vbulletin->options['defaultusergroup'])
{
        $newusergroupid = $vbulletin->options['defaultusergroup'];
}

im using vb3.6.2 standard version

Any plans to add a feature such as Usergroup based on Registration Referral Name?

hkvic 07-02-2007 03:06 PM

Great hack, cheers. Installed

Is there a demo of this I can see?

I'm looking to allow new registrants to tick or click on usergroup choices at registration. This could be one or more usergroups.

Thanks,

Ian

Does this allow the user to be changed to another usergroup once they reach X amount of posts?

Is there something that works along with this but after X amount of posts, the user gets bumped to another user group? I have the promotion thing setup but that didnt seem to work.

I'm using the promotion system and it works very well...

MattLuria 02-08-2008 08:54 PM

Anyone know if this works with the latest version of 3.6.8?

andreamarucci 05-13-2008 03:10 PM

And with version 3.7?

drsli 06-11-2008 11:01 AM

It works perfectly with 3.7.1 on my live-forum! :)

I think there appears to be some problem....

OK, what I am trying to achieve is that when a user registers, they have to first validate their email address, and then they are put into a moderation group, and they cannot post until they have validated their email address.

However, what happens now, is that when users register an email is sent out to their email address to validate, but when they click on it, it tells them that their account is already validated. I guess the reason why this is happening is because as soon as they finish registering, they are put into this new moderation group, which doesn't need email validation (which is why they are getting that 'You account is already validated' message).

So is there any way for the plugin to put users into this new moderation group AFTER they have validated their email addresses?

I would also want this, any updates please?

raagaswaram 06-04-2009 06:01 PM

SVTCobraLTD 11-02-2009 08:58 PM

Is there any need for this on 3.8.4?

zapiy 05-02-2010 01:39 PM

Any chance of a version for VB4?

Cheers

optimatez 09-23-2010 01:45 PM

Can this be made so that we can put a new user in multiple groups? I would like to have my new users put into 3 groups, and i also would like to be able to specify which group is primary, and which are additional groups. Thanks!!

Hi,
I just installed this mod and it seems it doesn't work.

My forum is conencted to Drupal using drupalvb module, may this is the reason?
