Thanks for the hack. Why does one need something like this?

To stop those stupid spam bots. :p (There is a new program that spams sites automatically for you. It makes the account, posts, etc.)
I don't need it anyway.

magnus 05-19-2007 02:19 PM

Well, if the bot can read the CAPTCHA in order to register -- why can't it read it in order to login?

Well, the bot hasn't been programmed to do CAPTHA at login, it was made to do it at registration.

bela-meaad 05-19-2007 05:32 PM

nice

thanks

FreshFroot 05-19-2007 10:42 PM

nice stuff mate. So far the nospam has helped.. but if things get worse, I'll neeed 2 use this.

Hornstar 05-19-2007 11:18 PM

Yeah i would only use this if your board is being targeted by spam bots. other wise it will annoy members, because even I sometimes find it hard to read those captcha images lol

Muellmann 05-19-2007 11:24 PM

Excellent work. Thank you for it I have installed.

theFAILURE 05-19-2007 11:51 PM

The NoSpam plugin works Tip Top!

We should not have to make our registered users enter something extra just just because of the spam bots.

I say this will be a great add-on if the NoSpam addition starts to fail.

Good work anyways, your efforts are appreciated!

Muellmann 05-20-2007 12:10 AM

<u>One bug found:</u> I am already logged in, if the Captcha appears.
All what I must do, is just click in navigation on the forum link to bypass it.
I found it accidentally during intensive tests with it. The idea is very good,
but the Captcha should appear before my status is set to logged in, otherwise
members will just click on a link to bypass the Captcha window.

Hack Updated!

20/05/2007 - Version 1.1
- Fixed User Logged In Without CAPTCHA Bug
- Fixed Admin CP / Mod CP Redirect Issues
- Added Ability To Exempt Individual Users

fluffyhelen 05-20-2007 07:41 AM

Cool idea. Question though, would it be possibly to only have it displayed for certain usergroups (admins, mods)? Or only include certain users for that matter?

Dismounted 05-20-2007 09:58 AM

If only you looked at the Admin CP Options....Although you haven't installed it yet (I know ;)). Yes, you can exclude certain usergroups and exclude individual users. I might include functionality to include instead of exclude in the future.

Barakat 05-21-2007 04:29 AM

but the person who want to run like those spam scripts can login normaly and then run his spam script !!! so the cookies will remain active and wont ask him again about the six digits ???

what about that ??

or its better to manage a time between every post ?

There's nothing to stop them from doing that, even with other hacks that prevent spam bots. So you can't stop it...

Snake 05-22-2007 09:14 AM

Thanks for this!

Thank you for fixing it, this is now a very useful hack. ;)

Coders Shack 05-26-2007 12:04 AM

if you make it require the correct captcha code to create a valid session then it would be possible. Because you need the session cookie set and have the value in the database before you can be considered as logged in.

Dismounted 05-27-2007 06:59 AM

Huh? What are you talking about? I've fixed that problem...

Frames 02-13-2008 01:41 PM

This mod is OK fro VB 3.7.0 Beta 4????

Dominic 03-23-2008 06:57 PM

Just so you know, The "Stay Logged In" feature doesn't work with this Modification. So a user will have to login to the website each time they close the browser and re open it. Which will annoy alot of users.

Also if the user doesn't enter the right string, once they click another page they are logged in.

Dismounted 03-30-2008 06:11 AM

I'll have a look at it. I cannot promise anything, as I am very busy.

invitezone 05-13-2008 11:08 PM

I have changed the setting for image type and now no captcha image appers which means i am now locked out of the acp and my users cannot log in either.

what can i do?

Dismounted 05-14-2008 08:03 AM

Add this to your config.php:
PHP Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

cihangir 05-22-2008 12:03 PM

Does it with the v3.7?

Thanks in advance.

Dismounted 05-24-2008 04:48 AM

I don't know. Best way to find out is to try.

xorex 08-05-2008 11:22 PM

not working for 3.7x

mickeskit 08-19-2008 11:43 PM

Hello!

Installed this mod now i cant access my forum.

Really need help with this.

Look at the image

Dismounted 08-20-2008 06:24 AM

Add this at the end of your config.php:
PHP Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

And then remove the modification, also remember to then remove the line again. In vB 3.7, the human verification system has changed.

Thanks dude.

It worked just fine :)

parash 12-13-2008 07:22 PM

How can we manually update it to latest version ?

Dismounted 12-14-2008 04:47 AM

It will most likely not work in 3.7+ without some (major?) changes, as these versions contain an overhaul of the human verification functions.

Are you willing to update this Add on please.

Dismounted 12-16-2008 03:17 AM

Time is limited on my end. I wish I could always code and update my free modifications, but reality is that I have paid commitments to attend to, as well as real life! :p

PvPKenti 01-29-2011 05:24 PM

nlwin 03-03-2011 09:38 PM
