Embed Snapvine in your Profile

Snapvine brings voice and mobility to social networks. Using the snapvine VoicePlayer?, users are able to safely communicate -- in their own voices -- with their online community. Unlike with other solutions which require expensive handsets and complicated downloads, snapvine's easy-to-use products work on any cell phone, with any carrier

Okay., I found this site and liked the free player, the company has the ability to port to other social networks, but not vBulletin; so I thought I could configure a quick script for us to use on our vBulletin Profiles.

I am using this on 3.67PL1 without any problems. I dont see a problem with this being used on the lower versions....

Before inserting this hack into your MEMBERINFO page you will need to have a profile ID

so go to www.snapvine.com and create a profile

your profile will look something like this:
http://www.snapvine.com/profile/omDddD5BlRbULCiQlxzxufW8KmnYIhis
http://www.snapvine.com/profile/omDd...zxufW8KmnYIhis

your profile ID is the red section

this is the part that you will copy in your editprofile

have fun!

Got tired of listening to a recorded message telling me the code doesn't exist.
Anyone else had any success with this ?

FreshFroot 05-19-2007 10:36 PM

if someone can get it to work, then I'll try it out.. or I'll have to test it on a test board.

TheBlackPoet 05-20-2007 12:42 PM

i dont want people to have to register on my site just to see the working version of this hack.. but for giggles.., if you wanna.... here is the link to my profile...

this is the part of snapvine that allows you to have a title to your profile. when you create a profile field, vBulletin will create a field number for you to address later in your code...

check out the img... and see what i mean..

use that to replace the field2 with field(your number)

Khalid-B 07-07-2007 10:44 PM

thamks a lot ,i have created both new profile feilds as you told in your instructions but its not work at all .
i gave NO 1 to first field and 2 for secound field . please help .
Thamks

txsbmw 07-08-2007 04:22 PM

More than likely you are not using the correct field numbers when replacing the field# in the code. You need to go to AdminCP>>>User Profile Fields >>>User Profile Field Manager

From there look for the 2 new fields you created. Look under the column that says name. All the fields in this column will look like field1 , field22, etc.... Those are the numbers you need.

Megatr0n 12-22-2007 06:29 PM

Any plans to port this on the 3.7 version (if possible)?

iogames 12-29-2007 09:57 PM

Why nobody told me about this?

Alfa1 12-30-2007 12:47 AM

Is it possible to make this available on profiles of members in certain member groups only? So this can be a supporters feature?

How can you moderate snapvine recordings?

As for question number 1, you might be able to use an if conditional

As for question number 2, you cannot moderate recordings unless it is your personal snapvine player.

I have been trying to get an answer on exactly that in this thread: How to restrict usergroups from using certain functionality?
Do you have any ideas on this?

Too bad. Then this nice add-on is probably not an option for sites that discuss sensitive topics like arms, drugs, sex, etc, because of possible abuse.

txsbmw 01-25-2008 12:05 AM

Yes that is the conditional you would use to show it. It won't restrict people from putting their info in but will restrict those who are not in the subscribed group from seeing it. You could probably also restrict the field to show only to those who are subscribers by using the conditional in the modifyprofile template.

If I understand it correctly then that would restrict all custom profile fields from being edited. That is not an option.

But wouldn't it be more effective to have a conditional in memberinfo that would do:

if profile belongs to a member from membergroup 1,2,3 then, the snapvine module is shown.

Do you know what the code is for this conditional?

Alfa1 04-01-2008 09:54 AM

Bump.

n95gps 12-13-2008 05:45 PM

i have done everything but the profile ID is showing as part of the forum

its should show like this

http://www.snapvine.com/profile/<profile ID>
