Keeps Logging Out

I am being told that numerous members keep being logged out. Personally I can NEVER stay logged in when I visit the main page, but when I visit the forums I am always logged-in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated with this.

Check your Cookie Domain

deano6410 05-17-2007 11:40 AM

the cookie PATH is currently just /

It recommends / or forums/

The cookie domain gives two options (blank) and .mydomain.com

I believe it is currently using blank

are you sure that its not the auto loggout that is done if users didn't check the remember me box before signing in?

Positive. I always tick that box, but it logs me out when I visit the main page.

Do you have more than one forum on your website?

deano6410 05-17-2007 11:52 AM

Just one forum.

You can see for yourself...

If your being logged out, its normally a cookie issue & nothing more.

1. Make sure you wipe ALL the cookies from your browser.
2. Remove all sites from your cookie domain exception list in the browser as well.

What's in your cookie domain box in the admincp?

Here is a screenshot of my settings: Screenshot

Does that help?

Sure, you could of justtold me it was blank lol

Anyways, your issue is most likely your browser and the cookie, do what i said in my last post and restart your browser.

You should set the Cookie Domain to .yoursite.com (note the first dot).

I've just found out that you need to see if your users are using a Zone Alarm and if they are tell them to disable it and ALLOW 3rd party cookies. The zone alarm, if installed, is a BIG problem..

You do NOT need a cookie domain set, typically the only time you need to set the cookie domain is if you are running multiple sub-domains off the same account.

If any cookies are corrupt or not being accepted as in a zone alarm case of sessions, this will cause the logged out issue.
