~ Ajax Tip Management ~

What ist this?

This Hack adds a tip management to your forum. Administrators can add tips, which will be displayed on each page of the forum. Using ajax your members will be able to scroll through tips and hide the tip box.

Installation

Please read the readme.txt

Feature Requests
  • If the last tip is shown up and you click on next, you should jump to the first tip rather a errormessage is shown up. (Added in v1.0.0 A 4)
  • Auto Template Edit (Added in v1.0.0 A 4)
  • Welcomeheaders Integration (Added in v1.0.0 A 5)
  • Deavtivate for Forums (Added in v1.0.0 A 5)

you should make it so when last tip is up it goes back to first as the error is annoying

This should've came with preloaded tips though. :p Like tips for Vbulletin use.

And now someone should share tips to use vBulletin ;)

anyways Great Hack will see what we can do with it.

The template Modify options why don't it do it automatically so when we uninstall it we dont have to go back and do the changes again :S

Does this display tips randomly (automatically) or do users have to click next tip?

Edit:

What I mean is, when the user browses throught different threads, can the tip change radomly to a different tip for each page/thread the user is viewing without the user manually changing the tip by clicking the link.

I would like to integrate this with the "welcome headers" hack. So that *after* a user has seen all the appropriate headers (by registering, and subscribing, etc) they get these tips instead.

I'll wok on this tonight and post what I did here, if I can get it working that is.

1. maybe the 'tips' can be show only in some forums [forumID x, y, z]
2. a option [following 1.] - show in forumhome [yes] [no]
3. a cron turn on/off - example: only on mondays turn ON. etc.

Great mod....got it working real quick on all areas of my site (CMPS, eFiction, Forum,)

I think for the welcome header suggestion that could be integrated into a template edit

ie (and forgive me for being general here...I do not know the variables off the top of my head)

Feature Idea: Tips only appear to users with less than x posts, or in x,y,z usergroups...I could do it with a conditional....but if you build it in I don't have to :p

You create tips in the ACP mate, if you uploaded the cpnav in to the XML folder then it should appear on the left.
