Bad Staff - Record Unbans!

Well I have no idea why this isn't built-in to vBulletin, but so be it. I'm having a problem with one of our banned members. There is somebody that keeps unbanning him. Now this isn't about keeping him away. That can be done in many ways.

I want to weed out this bad staff member, so I can strip him of his powers. I don't want a corrupt staff member, now do I? If somebody can help me somehow record who is banning/unbanning who that'd be great. Thanks for all your help and if it catches this criminal I'll probably donate to the helper through Paypal. :)

You might want to check your control panel logs...... :D

Mackenzie s 05-07-2007 01:30 AM

I've checked. Mod logs do NOT show Ban History. I'm not that stupid... -.-

Romeos Tune 05-07-2007 01:37 AM

Obviously you are because it shows in mine... lol

Not overly nice, plus.. better to be keep ones mouth shut (or fingers off keyboard) than open it (or type) and prove it.

Control Panel logs do NOT show Moderator (modcp bans) actions, only actions within AdminCP.

Romeos Tune 05-07-2007 01:44 AM

Best to do the same if one has been a customer of yours also wouldn't you say? This was instigated by this person after I was nice enough to try and help.

BTW, what does CP stand for? Would
it be.... Control Panel? hmmmmm Did I say what control panel to look at?

Control Panel Log Viewer (page 1/6) | There are 78 total log entries.

That is cut and pasted... Looks as if it says control panel log.....Of course it's in the admin control panel.

You're way out of line.

Guest210212002 05-07-2007 01:46 AM

Someone's certainly out of line, but it sure isn't kall. You're overreacting.

Romeos Tune 05-07-2007 01:48 AM

I wonder how you'd react when a moderator told you to keep your mouth shut after you simply tried to help someone and they made a rude comment to you? I'm not the over-reacting type.. I just don't like being treated that way after trying to help someone. I won't respond again.

Hmm......

Well how about going back to helping me... I didn't mean to offend anyone, but if I did sorry. :(

Just to clarify: The logs that show Admin actions (including banning.php) are accessed through a link called Control Panel Log.

The ones that show Moderator actions (as the OP asked for) are accessed through a link called Moderator Log.

You said that the information the OP was looking for could be found in Control Panel Log, an incorrect statement.

Also, even if someone gave me a million dollars, it wouldn't give them any right to be rude on THIS forum. My moderation here is not influenced by any amount of money.

You've done nothing wrong. :)

What you are after would have to be a custom piece of coding, as the Default logs only capture this information when admins do it, not moderators... and I feel that making all your Staff admins isn't going to be the best option. ;)

You could try posting in the Modification Not Available? forum and see if someone can whip it up for you.

Mackenzie s 05-07-2007 02:10 AM

I posted it as per kall's suggestion.

Why not just remove your moderators ability to unban people.

Mackenzie s 05-07-2007 09:09 PM

I want my mods to have that power. It's not only about stopping it, but finding out who did it. Catching them in the act. ;)

harmor19 05-07-2007 11:45 PM

Couldn't the topic starter deny banning permission to moderators and use the infraction system instead?
