FlashChat Admin Panel integrated into AdminCP

Hack Support

This hack is now discontinued - this means that while it will remain available for download and use, there will be no further updates, nor will support be provided as the thread is no longer monitored.

Please click Mark as Installed if you are using this hack.

vBulletin Version Compatibility

This hack can be used with both vBulletin v3.6.x and v3.7.x. But it is highly recommended that you use the new hack with v3.7.x.

What Does This Hack Do?

This hack allows you to integrate the FlashChat Admin Panel into your vBulletin Admin Control Panel, so all administration is done in one place (you can even optionally remove FlashChat's own nav links - see the screenshots for comparison).

I originally did one for v3.0.x, when v3.5.x came out cyberhypnotic put out a hack before I could port mine, so I did not bother.

What hacks need installing before installing this hack?
These hacks need to be installed in this order and working correctly, for this hack to work.
  1. FlashChat v4.7.x (v5.x.x has not been tested with this hack)
  2. Paul M's Flashchat Integration for vB 3.6 v3.55
  3. Then install this hack

Installation Instructions
  1. Upload cpnav_flashchat.xml to the includes/xml folder (overwrite previous version if upgrading).
  2. Import product-jd_20070404.xml into vB using the AdminCP Product Manager (set Allow Overwrite to Yes if upgrading)
  3. Refresh your AdminCP to see the new navigation menu.

Optional step - This will remove flashchat's own admin navbar (see screenshot for result):
  1. Remove the .txt extension from the end of top.tpl.txt, then upload top.tpl to your <chatfolder name>\templates\admin folder, overwrite the current top.tpl file.
  2. You may need to delete %%<unique string>%%top.tpl.php (<unique string> may look something like FD^FD1^FD153A02) cached by Smarty Templates in the <chatfolder name>\templates\templates_c for the optional step to take affect in the AdminCP.

Note: There is no upgrade path from my v3.0.x version, you have to uninstall that one first before installing this one.

Yes. All this one is doing is adding the navigation to the admincp and adding the phrases

As Redlinemotorsports said, it does not affect and works fine with Paul M's hacks :)

To do the template edits myself is there a $templatename or do I have to add the whole block code to the page? :erm:

There are no templates added at all in this modification, hence there is nothing to edit.

The templates that are on the right hand side are from FlashChat itself, and you would have to alter some of the FlashChat files to sort that out, they are rendered using the Smarty templating system and not vbulletin's templating system at all.

Very useful, thanks.

The install went simple enough and appeared to be successful - but when I look at items under Flash Chat Admin panel in Admin CP - I see nothing but blank pages.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Frank

That is weird as hack makes no database queries at all, it just opens the appropriate flashchat admin pages in the AdminCP instead of having to access them via the seperate flashchat admin page. It does nothing more than that, so the database errors I have not got a clue at all and it definitely has nothing to do with this hack.

The menu works, but the only thing i get is:

What's your name? <Enter the chat>

For some reason it looks like the flashchat admin backend does not automatically authenticate you, which it should if you have integrated flashchat into vBulletin (check out Paul M's flashchat integration hacks).

Anybody ever figure out why the admin pages are blank? Mine is doing the same thing....

Pc 1203 06-05-2007 07:24 PM

I installed this but, I have a problem. My chat is not located at forums/chat, it is located at just chat. What shall I edit to make this work?

Upgrade to version 2, and search for and edit this phrase to point to the correct folder - flashchat_path.

I think it had something to do with the path to the flashchat folder, upgrading to version 2 should fix it.

Getting same result. Using v2.0. The box in the admincp for flashchat is blank and there are no entries in there either. It placed the empty box just under the arcade admin box and above styles and templates. My folder for flashchat is called chat. Any ideas on what the prob is? Thanks for the help. I really want this one too. heh. ty. :)

wanted to add this;
I noticed some warning code that was displayed in the admincp in the upper left corner just under the vBulletin Logo.

This is the code;

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /19admincp53/index.php(407) : eval()'d code on line 1

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /19admincp53/index.php on line 420

I did (as you can see) change the admin folder name to 19admin53, but before trying the install the 2nd tikle, i changed the folder to admincp, and its reference in config.php as well. this is wierd, but it sure looks like it the folder name as the issue. gonna play some more later, but any ideas are GREATLY welcomed. thanks all.

Silvio 06-16-2007 05:46 PM

ty so much for this great work! installed it really smootly on Vb3.6.7PL1 and it is perfectly doing its job.

I have a request - where possible - I would like to give only to few of our admin the possibility to interact with chat section of our community, so will be possible to make the section of this hack on admincp dependant from the admin specific rights?

pls accept my apologises for this terrible itanglish

regards

Installed Pauls hack (the stuff from there works fine) and then this hack. When clicking on any of the options in the Flashchat Admin Panel, the following appears and nothing else:

FlashChat Administration Panel

This tool is designed to give FlashChat administrators multiple ways to view the chat logs, reset the chat logs, and add/edit/remove rooms. There are 1431 logged messages. Configuration options for the chat can be set in the inc/config.php file, which comes with the FlashChat distribution.

Any idea? Thanks!

IGNORE this post - PEBKAC. My bad.:o

Works great , thanks.

I will see what I can do, been offline because I have had a major system crash and also had a house move, so may be a little while before I do this, but I will do it as soon as possible.

Upload cpnav_flashchat.xml to the includes/xml folder, that should fix it.

If it does not, then please elaborate further, I need more details of exactly what the problem is, as I nearly 200 people who do not have a problem at all.

Dannyloski 07-12-2007 04:31 PM

jdsinclair,

I uploaded all the files and followed the instructions to the letter. I attached a Screen Shot of what I see when I try to visit ANY of the Links in the FlashChat Admin Penel, when it's Integrated to the AdminCP. It doesn't display any of the contents of the links as it should.
