Super Mod deleted his attachments when he left

I have a backup of the database before he did this. Is there any way to re-upload the attachments from this sql dump and have them linked on the posts considering that he also deleted his account when he left?

Thankyou

Although Im not sure how to do this making a Smod who can permanently remove threads attachments also allowing them to remove themselves!!

Is a bad idea.

i hate it when mods go bad.

Yeah I hate that too. I think ours are to scared of us to go bad :P Just Kidding. We have a rule that nothing is to be deleted from our site. Nothing. And so far everyone has followed it. But not everyone will be honest, so I guess we are lucky.

Thats bad. I only give them permissions to soft delete. Only I can permanently remove messages

Cloud Strife 03-28-2007 09:15 PM

His messages are still there, he edited each of his attachments and removed them before he left. By default vBulletin doesn't have a soft delete for this.

*bump* Anyone?

Attachments aren't saved to the mySQL database. Since they're actual files, the only way to get it back is if your host has an auto backup of your site (some do, some don't).

Attachments can be save either way, as files or in the database.

bro fault is ur who gave this dangrous access to mods

well i have no idea about that soem 1 will sure help u out and this

peace out

Not really my fault, its default for any user to be able to remove their attachments. Anyway, this isn't about who's in the wrong, it's about fixing the problem at hand. So if anyone could be kind enugh to let me know what query to use to restore the attachments from my old SQL backup it would be much appreciated. :)

If you have a forum backup taken from cpanel these can be restored whn upping tht backup ... whilst giving the mods/supermods access to permanently delete posts is wrong . Better be safe and patient to remove post yourself thn be sorry after.

Wengi

Yes, but the sql backup is quite old. A lot has happened on the board since then, so simply restoring an old backup is not an option.

There is no easy way.

Restore the old attachments table (to a table called attachments2). Delete all the records that are not his (from attachments2) and then copy the records that are left back into your live attachments table.

(A bit more fancy sql could actually just copy the relevant records from the attachments2 table directly to the live attachments table)
