Are my server load averages ok?
Server Load Averages 0.08 0.07 0.02 | 10 Users Online (2 members and 8 guests)
Are they alright? |
Pretty fantastic really.
Is that shared hosting or are you on your own server? if it's shared, you;re doing *especially* well. |
Yeah, it is shared, does repairing and optimizing tables 2 or 3 times per day help as thats what I do.
|
You shouldn't need to do it that often, and it is unlikely to have any noticeable effect on server load. the load is more likely to be affected by other people on your server, as that figure is for the WHOLE server, not just your site.
Who are you hosted with, out of interest? Although I'm not looking for a host, I know others often are, so if yours is good other people may liek to give them a try. |

i suppose you repair and optimize your tables because you've found that they were not optimized in your phpMyAdmin... most of the people who do that are making it because they think it will help... but that's no use... each time a new entry is made in a table, it leaves a trace, making the table to be more or less clean... that's why the system identify them as not-optimised... the next entry in that table always fix the problem... and the next one is giving the same kind of detail... so it is pointless, until your server stuck...
|
I just repaired my tables because I thought it as good to do so.
|
Actually the repair/optimise is also a (small) risk as it could in a worse case scenario even fail, leaving your table corrupted.

Thankyou everyone I could have ran into some serious problems...

Check mine :

New host, what about these?
3.98 3.89 4.06 | 9 Users Online (1 members and 8 guests) |
you switch hosts pretty quick :D ..... and logically if the load numbers are higher, then thats obviously not a good sign
|
Server Load Averages 39.59 49.08 54.69 | 178 Users Online (3 members and 175 guests)
How do i optimize it ? |
kartik are you on a dedicated server ? cause there's something very wrong with that. Can you provide a link to your site so I can judge the possible cause of this ridiculous load?
|
OK, I have 16 users online, what about this > Server Loads: average: 3.91, 3.46, 3.38 3.91 : 3.46
|
thats a little hight for the number of users you have. I presume you are on a shared environment ? in which case it could be because your server is slightly overloaded. If you are on a dedicated server, something is very wrong
|
How do you check server loads?
|
go into your admin panel, at the CP Home, under Quick Administrator Links
you will see your load Server Load Averages 0.10 0.13 0.07 | 197 Users Online (53 members and 144 guests) |
Thank you!
Can you explain what the 0.10 0.13 0.07 numbers stand for? |
The 3 numbers indicate the server load for 1, 5 and 15 minutes. As for what server "load" indicates

Hmmm strange. Under quick administrator links i just have Users Online 45 (23 members and 22 guests) but no server load.

Hi Guys
Just setup my newly purchased vBulletin forum at http://www.nextlevelgaming.co.uk/forum and checked my server load averages which are 7.38 5.33 4.91 | 2 Users Online (1 members and 1 guests) after reading through this thread its made me think I need a new host. My current host is 1and1.co.uk and I am using the Business Pro package. Should the loads even be that high? Can anyone recommend a new Uk based host? |
yes move asap..... thats ridiculous for so few users....
