cpSettingsSort

Keywords: admincp, menu, order, sort, displayorder, settings, vBulletin Options

Description:
Simple product that gives you a "sort" menu choice that will sort the settings under vBulletin Options alphabetically descending, ascending, by product then ascending, and by product then descending. It also allows you to return to the unsorted (display order). It's a little thing - but it's been driving me nuts every since I started using vBulletin, and I finally got around to doing something about it.

Features:
  • Fully Phrased.
  • Sort settings under vBulletin Options.
  • Safe and reversible.
  • Automatically updates the sort order when a new product is installed.
Install:
  • Download the cpSettingsSort_2.0.0.zip file.
  • Unzip and upload all files in the upload directory to your forum root.
  • Import the product file in your admincp.
  • Sort you settings however you want (from the cpSettingsSort Settings menu).

I was actually only thinking the other day, how annoying it was to find things, lol nice work.

rjmjr69 03-23-2007 11:10 AM

WOW nice very nice. This is one of THOSE hacks that should be Standard with VB really things get so disorganized after adding hacks and etc etc etc. Could you also take a swing at being able to order the left hand column of VB and Product options? Would be awesome if you could have complete order display access. Place any group in any order as well as group sub setting listings. I love this hack MOTM?

One thing. Installed but not ordered properly. Products are split by VB options. Products start at top midway thru the list switches to VB options then finishes rest of the Products. No matter which selection I use other than the default VB display. Any Ideas? I am using 3.6.5

brvheart 03-23-2007 11:14 AM

I did that a long time ago - the best little unknown hack for vb IMHO lol. It's called cpSuperMenu and though I haven't updated it for 3.6 yet I have it on good faith (plus some testing) that is works just fine.

Can you pm me with a temp account and I'll go have a look for you?

Cyricx 03-23-2007 11:58 AM

Yeah I manually went through and changed the xml for the left side and ordered that all up.

Great idea on the cp menu!!!!

I've gotten in the habit of show all settings then hitting ctrl-f to find what I need, as it is just annoying to try to locate it in that mess.

I'll definately be installing this! :)

efil 03-23-2007 02:47 PM

Thank you!

I just thought about it today...

Lionel 03-23-2007 03:33 PM

Thanks. I've been hoping for something like that for a while now. I've got so many options it's been pain to locate them.

bitdefuser 03-23-2007 09:00 PM

Should be VB default...
Anyways, installed. :)
Thanks.

Someone gave this hack a rating of 3. That's fine, thank you for being honest, but could you tell me what you think could be improved? This goes for anyone who doesn't feel any of my hacks are 5 stars. You can PM me if you are uncomfortable saying so in public.

Thanks - for helping me provide the best support possible,

- Hambil

rjmjr69 03-24-2007 11:49 PM

I dont know why anyone would rate it at 3 man this hack is the balls. I gave it 5 stars. Thanks for the help and all your hard work. Keep up the good work. I have several test boards if you ever need a beta tester let me know.

NiTRoN 03-25-2007 09:09 AM

would be awsome if you can expand this hack to cpSortAnything.. like let you arrange the Left Panel Navigation area in CP.. Sort it using similiar ways like inside this hack or option to assign weights like one of the previous hack did in 3.5 version..

Just a suggestion.. :) otherwise great hack.

Doctor Death 03-25-2007 11:13 AM

I for one really appreciate your mods, have a couple of them installed. I find them dead on in functionality as well as trivial to install.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

Atakan KOC 03-25-2007 05:47 PM

Thanks....

LisaD1 03-25-2007 06:04 PM

Works great Thanks :)

odie3 03-26-2007 11:22 PM

Very nice, I was just thinking about this yesterday how I could not stuff since it was not in order!

Thanks!

Luky 04-07-2007 02:44 PM

I think mods should have their own menu and vBulletin have its own menu, two seperate pages.. would be so much easier!

TheBlackPoet 04-07-2007 06:23 PM

excellent... i love this hack!!! thank you..

NiTRoN 04-25-2007 04:19 AM

i got this error code

Invalid SQL:

SELECT varname, text
FROM vbulletin_phrase
WHERE phrasetypeid = PHRASETYPEID_SETTING AND
languageid IN(-1, 0, 1)
ORDER BY languageid ASC;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'phrasetypeid' in 'where clause'
Error Number : 1054
Date : Wednesday, April 25th 2007 @ 01:15:40 AM
Script : http://site.com/admincp/cpsettingssort.php
Referrer : http://site.com/admincp/index.php?do=nav

and the option shows

http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/911/untitled1gq4.jpg

uninstalling it removes options inside vblulletin options menu.. and reinstall does no effect..

-------------- update -------------------------------

Ok found out the error was cause the .php was for 3.5.4 version.. now when i click cpsettingsort from left side, blank white page shows on main window.

also this hack looks for php inside /adminpc and /includes instead only 1 directory.. dunno if its me or just the bug.., also the cpsetting sort phrase had to be added inside .xml file.

-------------- FIXED --------------------------------

NVM somehow leftovers of version 1.0 were installed, removing it fixed and also removed the option under vbulletin options..

Ownership of this hack has been transfered to Redlinemotorsports. He will be reposting the hack when he is ready, and I will add a temporary message to redirect support from here to the new thread. A week or so after that this thread will be gone.

Thank you all for your support and use of this hack, and I hope it continues to do well under the skilled hands of Redlinemotorsports :)

HMBeaty 04-30-2007 07:44 PM

Thank you hambil :)
