Approving New accounts before they can log on.

Is this possible? I want it set so I have to approve them before they can log on and also they must be approved in order to post anywhere on the forum.

you can do this via ADMINCP / vbulletin options / User Registration Options

http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...group_register

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:26 AM

Just go into your Admincp > vBulletin Options > User Registration Options > and set "Moderate New Members" to YES

This will put them in the "(COPPA) Users Awaiting Moderation" usergroup, so you may want to edit some things in that usergroup beforehand

Thing is...I did..and it's selected to yes...I got the email someone joined..it gave me their info..but that was it.

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:27 AM

It does that when someone registers. What do you want it to do?

daddygrim 02-28-2007 02:29 AM

I want to approve the account before they log on and post. I like to see who is who when they sign up. How can I validate if it doesn't give doesn;t let me?

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:30 AM

You have to go into your admincp to approve them

daddygrim 02-28-2007 02:30 AM

i'm there now..but where do i go to see this?

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:31 AM

Its in the side panel on the left, in the "Moderation" menu

daddygrim 02-28-2007 02:32 AM

yeah i see..when i clicked on it..it tells me no matches. I hope i don't have any bugs. lol

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:33 AM

Or your other mods or admins (if any) have already approved them

daddygrim 02-28-2007 02:34 AM

i'm then only one..I just installed this yesterday.

HMBeaty 02-28-2007 02:35 AM

Amd you're positive you have done this?.......

Users Awaiting Email Confirmation 1 -

Not sure whether this is the case, but if the user got an invalid email address, or never activated their account, you will not get a user pending in the Admin panel.

The registration process goes like:
1) Register
2) Send them confirmation email
3) Users validate the registration via that email
4) Show up in Admin Panel pending for approval

Then you can follow the steps above to have them approve.

Hope this helps because I was wondering the same thing a while ago and finally found this out by registering an account myself and watched closely to the process. if i were you, i would try to register for an account yourself, to make sure your mail server is working correctly and you can also have a better understanding of the process.
