Is this true for Vbulletin???

I've just been told that if you have alot of forums on your board, it can cause severe lag on your site. Is this true??? This person is stating someone told them this that is a Vbulletin user themselves, and well, I can't find ANY documentation on it.. so is this true???

Alot of forums on your board?
Like alot of catagorys
lag on a forum is mainly your hosting depending on what type of host you have.

PinkDaisy 02-26-2007 09:35 PM

Yup.. well I guess she means forums... we have alot of forums for different things, since we are based on alot of pregnancy, parenting ways, personal forums, etc.....

But thats what she said! That since we have so many Vbulletin doesnt like it or whtever and it will lag...

We've had lagging issues, but they are on my hosts side and the host even knows it and fixed this issue tonight! (supposedly)

If we are talking about the board in your signature then its not the number of forums, its the number of hacks.
Not many left on vb.org which you are not 'utilizing' :p

PinkDaisy 02-26-2007 10:49 PM

OH man... it's my hacks?? :( I NEED all of them tho... lol

But seriously it has been our server and they know it's their fault. Tonight, our board is zooming, so it can't be that bad I have those hacks, right?? lol

I thought of that one, but was going to ask
How many mods do you have installed on your board?
Could you list some?

FLMom 02-26-2007 10:59 PM

I find that certain hacks slow my site more than others. For instance the shoutbox, just about slowed my site to a crawl, once I got rid of that and one other thing I was fine.

I hope you can find out the problem..

PinkDaisy 02-26-2007 11:00 PM

PinkDaisy 02-26-2007 11:20 PM

I thought I had a good host.. they started getting really bad these past 3 weeks or so... they told me my issue is fixed and it was a scripting problem and they fixed it ?? so who knows!

1) Duplicate your database - not a bad idea anyway - gives you a back up and/or a realistic test bed.

2) Copy all your vbulletin files to another directory

3) Go into the admincp - fix any path issues.

4) Remove all hacks.

5) Compare performance.

... then you know.
