Remove "&goto=newpost" from RSS feed?

Would it be possible to remove "&goto=newpost" from my RSS feed? This would prevent visitors being redirected to user comments rather than the initial thread.

Thanks in advance.

(I did search for an answer first)

Anyone any ideas?

Bacon Butty 02-21-2007 07:51 AM

Am I ok to keep bumping this every so many days in the hope someone will answer it?

Rukas 02-23-2007 11:49 PM

Did you work it out?

Bacon Butty 02-26-2007 09:46 AM

No Rukas not yet.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Anyone???

Xoligy 03-02-2007 10:13 AM

The more times you ask the same question, the more likely people are going to ignore it.

Bacon Butty 03-02-2007 04:19 PM

Another way of saying that is,

"the less you ask a question, the more likely no one will answer it".

I checked the rules and they say not to bump threads within 24 hours, which I haven't, I have waited days.

I decided the last post I made prior to this would be the last I would make asking for help, this will now be the last.

And lastly if your not going to help, why post??? Personally, i'd see more of a problem with your post being of a spammed nature than anything.

Because I came on here with some free time looking to help people, but I was put off by your 5 posts asking for help. Why not just learn how to do it yourself or PM some people directly. Or even pay someone to give up their time to help you.

 Don't you think I have? I have obviously tried but failed miserably. See the thread below were I asked for help to fix the problem I created by trying to find a solution to the question asked in this thread.

I have, I asked one or two who have released RSS type mods. Even PM'ed 3 or 4 moderators asking if it was on to "bump" this thread. Only got the one reply from a guy though who said he doesn't know.

Never thought of that, I think thats what I may have to do if I cant find a solution myself by tampering with the external file. Cant blame me for asking first though?

If I find the solution i'll post it in here for others.

Thanks for your help...

Open external.php go to line 610, 618, 662 or search for

/showthread.php?t=$thread[threadid]&goto=newpost

and delete goto=newpost.

Thanks alot!

I was deleting "&goto=newpost" which seemed to corrupt the file.

Was this for SEO reasons or just because you wanted the link to take the user to the first post in the thread?

Actually....I deleted "&goto=newpost" and it's working fine for me. If I left the "&" in there I was getting URL's like this:

http://gridironfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62134&

instead of this:

This thread is over a year old...

SBlueman 06-18-2008 06:11 AM

And I added to it in case anyone might need this information in the future. I actually spent a couple hours searching for this tonight.

hotslot 04-13-2011 07:25 PM

I seem to not be able to find the .php file.. Can anyone send me instructions on how to find ?
