New skin...looking for feedback :)
Hey all! I have a new skin I'm testing on my site and would love some critique from the discerning eyes here :) Check out the postbit and the images in the header on refresh. Thanks for taking the time to look!

So you dont design or code any of your skins? Didnt some guy named BlindChild link that same skin up here a week or so ago. It looks good, but not targetted to a large audience at all, probably a waste of money.

that banner looks horrible....the rest is cool :)

Hi John,
long time no speak. You're going to hate me now :p The style...... well, the basic concept is interesting but it's as if it's been designed for people with sight difficulties and need everything to be oversized. The cat headers are far too large, the board markers too bulky and the logo too big for the forum size that's been chosen for it. Add that to the sidebar which makes the forum area itself way too small - and looks even smaller because of the overlarge icons. If the sidebar went bye-bye you might get away with the large icons and category bar but the way it stands, all it achieves is to make the style look too "busy" Inside the forum, the threadmarkers look out of place and lilke they've just been thrown into the style as an afterthought - there's no apparent connection between them and the rest of the style - and all the default images remaining in the style haven't been matted so they all have that horrid white jagged edge to them. On the plus side - the postbit is stunning, and the basic colourscheme is gorgeous. ;) Sorry... please don't hate me ;) |
Thanks for the input everyone...always appreciate the critique!
@criticize - my current WoW style is one of my all time best selling so this being a "waste of money" is highly unlikely ;) |
I just think that with the skin being so narrow it will run into an issue with people purchasing it. Just my opinion, I wish you the best of luck selling it though :)

You could use replacements and have different sets for each style tho ;) that's what we do.
|
All your skins look good. Ever think of making a Mac OS X skin?

ps. the skin looks great ;) ;) |
Well, this has been revamped design wise and re-coded somewhat. Also default vb images have been replaced for the most part...see what you all think now ;)
|
I really quite like it, it's crisp and pretty.
Nice work John. :) |
The 307 link takes me to a totally different style?

Looks much better now all the noticeable default images are gone.!!! Boardmarkers are still a little too big for my taste, but I know people seem to like them.

did you ask permission to use the IconFactory icons you used all over the theme? Or are you planning to release the skin for free?

What happend to the old link skin :|
This new one looks sick though Sick design with the creativity First Impression caught my eye attention which is good. I hate WoW, if that image on the right was taken off that orgy or whatever it would look good on any game site. HUGE gap at the bottom where it goes all black, I think it would be better if it was above the Contact Us - vBSkinworks - Top 9.4/10 |
