is this a good price for a custom skin?
 

it will cost $1200CDN to change the colors of my forums from the basic default? just curious b/c this is how much i am being charged.

if it is just a color change, and nothing else, that is ridiculous. You are able to change the colors yourself in the admin cp by literally just clicking color boxes to any color you'd like.

its also centering the forums like here at vb.org

for 1200 Euros you can probably get a totally new costum design.

No Skin should cost more then the software itself

$1200 is a price that is typical of a fully customized skin with some fairly detailed design work in it. If you're just after a basic recoloring with the default graphics recolored to match, I wouldn't pay more than $100 (That's my standard rate, as it's no where near as involved.)

i got a guy who can do full custom for 300 usd that includes eevrything cutom, logo creation, 6 months of updates after the template is done pm me for more info

absolutely NOT... way too much money for what you're asking to be done.

I'd expect a forum style that can get up and cook dinner and make me cups of tea whenever I demand it for that price! *looks horrified*

For color changes and centering the forums, yes.. Way too much.

But if it were a completely new custom skin with hundreds of template changes, then no. Probably not enough considering the amount of time and work it takes.

Your being ripped off, PM me if you want a real custom skin. Or tell the other guy to lower his prices to under $100 for that type of work. he should include the entire package not just one or two small edits. Full blown for that price.

thanks everyone for their input. I actually now found someone new to take on this assignment for a fraction of what the other programmer wanted. I suppose it was so expensive because it was an actually company instead of a designer/coder from vb.org

For that price you should get not only the new skin but the following;
1. Dinner for 2 at your cities finest restaurant (with choice of any celebrity)
2. Limo ride to and from that dinner
3. A bottle of Dom Perignon to wash it all down
4. 2 nights at your cities finest hotel, complete with jacuzzi, sauna, back rub, chinese hookers, etc.

yes that's too high of a price for just changing colors, for such price you can usually get a full custom skin and full set of icons, and by custom I mean a skin that really changes the look of your board.

$5 cause every custom skin I've seen looks like butthole. And every premade template is right up there, UN INSPIRED CRAP.
