[BOTM March 2007] Nominations Thread
This is the nomination thread for Board of the Month March.

Also, please note, that the current voting thread for BOTM February will remain open as well until the 28th of February. When nominating please post the site name, URL to the forum, a short description what makes your board stand out from default vBulletin, and a reason for nomination that will motivate others to second the nomination. If the staff feels that a nomination post is too promotional it will be edited accordingly. Any sites without a name, URL, description and reason for nomination will NOT be entered into the poll. Reason for Nomination: A huge work has been done in order to answear to members' needs, making Hyjoo a heavily modified board, with a lot of "homemade" hacks. A few examples : - We created our own article system with a special "indexation feature" (see here for an example with our Anime & Manga Index) ! - We created a fully integrated IRC system (with unrealircd server, and a java script which links it to the vB database). Only Hyjoo members are able to login to this private IRC server (test it here if you want) ! - We now have our directory, generated from the DMOZ one, and integrated in our board. |

Reason for Nomination: The Frienz Network first begun as a single gaming server with a lot of bugs back in 2005. The so called server was named 'FrienzMU'. After a few weeks of hard coding, we finally made our gaming server files bugless. More people were coming and our gaming server was hosted on a friend HomePC which couldn't support more than 80 players then, we added google ads. People started to click them so we had enough money to pay ourselves a dedicated server.[...]At the middle of 2006, we decided to make a network called 'Frienz-Network', we were aiming really high. We first started with MU Online, then Lineage II, then world of warcraft and finally Knight online. At the beginning, we were running on a HomePC with the following specs: P4, 2.8 GHz, 1GB Ram. Now, we have a lot of boxes, such as: Quad Xeon, 3.2 GHz, 8GB Ram, 1gb uplink. Our forum is currently hosted on a P4, 2GB Ram, 100mbps uplink. |
