Important Beta Information
Do NOT use on a live site until the first official stable version is released. This public beta release is for testing and feedback purpose only so do NOT use for normal use. Stable version to be released in 2008 if time allows me to.

Any updates that come in the next few weeks will NOT have any upgrade features and you will need to remove and reinstall the mod again untill the stable version is released.

Thank you for taking the time to test Mindestic Gaming CMS Lite. Please do keep in mind that this is at very early stage of development so there are a TON of features that need to be worked on. I hope to hear from all of you soon.

Mindestic Gaming CMS Lite is an advanced yet simple (at least it will be one day lol!) to use gaming system for your website.

Additional Future CMS Projects
In additionlal to Mindestic Gaming CMS Lite there will be other versions developed at a later date. This inculdes Mindestic Sports CMS Lite, Mindestic Music CMS Lite and Mindestic Movie CMS Lite. No dates have been set at this time.

Hah, forgot those, I will upload shortly. However the front end at this time is very very simple. However it will be changed in time.

I have a few thoughts, ideas etc...

Based on the screenshots, I'm assuming Category would be considered the Platform (Xbox, Xbox 360 etc...) Is there a reason you went with Category over Platform? I look at categories as being the same thing as Genre.

An option to enter the URL for the Developer, Publisher and/game iteself would be a nice feature.

The ability to sort the Developer, Publisher and Genre list(s) within the Admincp.

I will test this out on my test site later on, and give you feedback, and suggestions. Good luck on everything!

jgommel: Your right about the categorys it should be platform so it will be changed, wasn't really thinking about that lol. As for the developer and publisher, yes url option will be added as well description, maybe contact information with each having there own page on the front end. Sorting options for developer and publisher will be added but I'm not sure about genre.

Yes you are correct there will be a pro. However at this time I haven’t decided what I will do with the pro, either release it here just like my glossary mod for free or I might try something new with a whole yearly subscription based system where you'll be able to download the latest version of the pro, install additional add-ons, download thousands of gaming avatars for the system/forum (3800+ gaming related avatars done so far lol), skins, and so on. Nevertheless the pro version won't be out until the lite is stable as well when the pro will be out it will be easy to upgrade from the lite.

This is just another thought -- these sorta came to mind while looking at a software application I use on my Mac called Gamepedia. I'm not sure how deep you even wanted to go with the Pro version of this, but what about giving the member/user an option to look up new releases. Maybe give the member/user the ability to check-off the games they currently own and or playing right now. Now I'm sure I'm going waaayy over the top here but, even give a member/user the opportunity to review a game, whether it's by Star Rating or having to physically type a review (or both).

jgommel: Oh I think I will be adding quite a bit to this system if things go well and if I see a need for it. The ideas you mentioned are already planned to be worked on but thank you for the ideas and do post them if you come up with something. I would like to have allot of features for this system or at least future addons for it.

Here is a quick run down with some plans but not all I have including a inhouse review system, community review system (list of reviews from other sites), member reviews or quick rating system, article/news system, game forums or threads, contest system, collection/tracking/wish list system (where members can check if they are playing the game, playing online, or beat the game), trading/classifieds system, member blog system, maybe a gallery (screenshots/movies) however I don't think I will have the know how to do this at this time, and so on lol. I think I'm going a bit overboard with this but I need it for my site future site.

Your welcome and thanks for the demo link. Please do note not to put in to much time entering data until the official stable version is released. Don?t want you to loss all your hard work when you upgrade. As for officially beta testing this, well thats what this release is and will be untill the stable release, for all who are interested to taking part and inputing your thoughts. Just check here for the latest beta version. I'll PM you tho about testing this some more ;)

You've inspired me to take on a similar project but for Magic the Gathering card collections. I just need to find the time and gather a few resources to help me put it all together... then there's those darn copyright laws and right to use scenarios etc.. etc...

Time for the next public beta release. This release will add a new feature which I think is going to be a great addition to this system. The Import/Export settings system. This new feature will allow you to import default settings from the Mindestic Gaming CMS Lite system if you don't wish to add your own. Lets say you don't want to add 300 developers into the system, no problem. If you go to 'Import/Export Developer' you can upload the latest xml file from Mindestic Gaming CMS Lite and presto, 300 new entries without breaking a sweat! Then lets say you add another 100 and want to share with the community or just want to back it up, well then you simply export the setting. Pretty cool eh? So it you guys could play with the new system and let me know what you think that would be great. Guess I'll get back to work, 1 done 6000 more features to add lol.

Now how did you upgrade? See at this time there is no way to upgrade just yet, did you uninstall your copy first then installed a fresh copy? From the sounds of the error you didn't do that. Let me know if thats the case.

It was not on the board (the old version, even though I installed it a few weeks back, when I had a problem with vBulletin I restored a backup and the old version was lost) but anyway It was a fresh install. I don't have any idea whats up with it, I will just wait for the final version.

G.X.Tournaments: Like I said it dosn't sound like you installed a fresh copy beucase in the error message it looks like the database is the old version and the files are the new ones. Thats why it can't find what its looking for. You need to uninstall the product beucase installing the new one if you ever want to play with it before its ready.

At the end I hope to have a frontend system like vbadvanced but we'll see how far this gets going. As for the pro version, if it ever gets there lol, I do have an idea of a whole subscription type deal instead of just buying the script where you would get this scrip plus, gaming skins, game content, game avatars (Over 3000 so far done lol), and so forth for a whole year. However I'm not sure if any one would be interested in that so I'll need to open a site up for feedback.

Cool.Ive got a test site for my vb to test things before i install them on the real forums an i installed the beta an it looks nice so far.

Yeah don't install on a live site since any work you put into it will be erased when you install the next version, well at least with the games. Any settings you set up now can be be saved with the new import/export system. However there might be additional changes to them so you can't win lol.

Great to see you are still in development with this, I look forward to tracking the development on this more, and once I finish all the huge changes to my site, I will give this a test on my test site. Maybe you should also start looking for a domain name, as I can see there will be a market for this, and lots of money to be made in the future.

Installed and seemed to be working without any problems until I clicked on a platform to view the games I had added to it, only to find that I recieve a plain white page and no content.

Any ideas?

Yes I just noticed there is a few things I forgot to change when I rename categories to platforms. I have made the changes and will release the next version soon, if not today, later this week.
