Ok, I installed this one. Very needed as I was just wanting to do this exact thing today. Installed perfectly.

Thanks!

thincom2000 01-14-2007 06:29 AM

Is this a time limit as in:

After making a post, there is a time limit before the user can no longer edit the post.
OR
When editing a post, the user must complete the edit under a time limit or the changes will not be saved.

If it's the latter, could you please give an example of a situation where this might be needed?

The function comes with vBulletin, but it is a global setting. This just extends it so it is on a per-forum basis.

Bellinis 01-14-2007 10:26 AM

Thank you soooo much Dimounted for this one!! Super! :)

One thing only: for some forums I would like to have "unlimited" edit time. Now I can only select '0' for global time limit or define a limit, but not unlimited... Or am I wrong? :D

Hack Updated!

15/01/2007 - Version 1.1
- Added Option To Set Unlimited Editing Time

Hornstar 01-15-2007 12:04 PM

Nice work Dismounted, good to see you releasing some good mods :)

Dismounted 01-16-2007 02:28 AM

Thanks, I was about to PM you about this one. I thought you might of needed it for the GFX Show-off section :).

Bellinis 02-09-2007 08:33 AM

Could this be a bug: when I select the *-option and save the page, the field is still showing '0'. I need this unlimited edit time for certain forums, so I hope this can be fixed. :)

Hack Updated!

11/02/2007 - Version 1.2
- Fixed Unlimited Edit Time Bug

Bellinis 02-12-2007 06:22 AM

Thanks 4 fixing! :)
Oh, and for all others: first uninstall the previous version before installing this update... (otherwise the update won't work)

Sofia 02-12-2007 05:19 PM

Thanks for this hack :)

Eagle Creek 02-16-2007 02:07 AM

HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS???

Last sunday, my crew and me talked about this. We wanted to have this, but it isn't possible by default. En here is it.
Thankyou!

stwilson 02-16-2007 02:37 AM

Nice work Dismonted!!!

Kintaro81 02-20-2007 08:47 AM

can be possible to limit the "editable post" to only the first post of the thread on specific forums?

Dismounted 02-23-2007 05:07 AM

No, it is not possible at the moment.

JohnBee 02-23-2007 11:23 PM

Thank You!!!

bulbasnore 04-20-2007 12:17 AM

Which of these does it affect?
  1. Time Limit on Editing of Thread Title
  2. Time Limit on Adding a Poll to a Thread
  3. Time Limit on Editing of Posts
  4. Time to Wait Before Starting to Display 'Edited by...'

Had to remove it b/c I need it to affect #1 and #3 but it looks like it only does #3.

Eagle Creek 04-20-2007 07:52 AM

As fire as I know only

Dismounted 04-20-2007 09:55 AM

As Eagle Creek said, it only applies to #3. But with some addition of code, it could possibly work with #1.

vampireus 04-30-2007 02:52 AM

Plz help, when I set it to -1, no further edit to the post right after submit

home9000 04-30-2007 04:04 AM

Is it compatible with 3.6.5

Huh?

Obviously, yes. Note the version specified, 3.6.x (x as in any version of the 3.6 branch).

vampireus 04-30-2007 12:56 PM

I meant I set the option to -1 to have unlimited edit time, but the result turn out to be that member unable to edit post right after they submit it

Dismounted 05-01-2007 07:39 AM

What other modifications do you have installed?

Ian Montgomerie 06-01-2007 06:31 PM

I just applied this to 3.7 PL 1, and it doesn't seem to work. The edit button does stay around for the new, forum-specific time (although setting time to "-1" means there is no edit button at all).

HOWEVER, when I click edit and make changes, a popup appears and tells me that I can't save them because the administrator has set a 120 minute limit (this is my global limit). My guess is this is the popup normally designed to occur if you open up the edit window before the global limit hits, but then don't save until after the limit has hit.

Anyway, the mod isn't working for me.

I have no other plugins/products installed. No template mods except trivial navbar stuff, no code hacks except a tweak to PM folder display.

Dismounted 06-02-2007 11:55 AM

Seems that the new vBulletin version is screwing it up, I'll have to find some time to look at it.

Eagle Creek 06-03-2007 02:09 AM

Yes please!

Eagle Creek 06-22-2007 12:33 PM

Hi!

It "doesn't work".
Plugin installed, forum set, 60 minutes.
A few minutes ago a user posted all of his posts, made today, yesterday and even before that.

Any suggestions on what's wrong? (vBulletin® Version 3.6.4)

sunnycher 06-28-2007 04:39 PM

Not working for me, I'm running 3.6.4 and set it to -1 for a certain forum but they still can't edit.

Ideas?

dizzy100 07-05-2007 01:53 PM

Any update on this ? It would really be a handy feature.

Try setting it to *

thetootall 07-12-2007 01:14 AM

We installed this without reading through this thread. It doesnt work for us either.

lostgirl815 07-13-2007 02:29 AM

Posting to follow progress...

(And just checking - once the time limit is up, nobody can edit - not even the mods - right?)

Yep. Still trying to figure out why it isn't working though.

lostgirl815 07-13-2007 05:23 AM

Fantastic! This is just what I was looking for. I'll be installing this the instant you figure it out. :)

What, seriously? This disables the ability of mods to edit posts beyond the time limit?

lostgirl815 07-25-2007 04:00 AM

That's the beauty part of it, for me.
