Not seeing where the options are... Under vBulletin Options???

EDIT:

Disregard that, as I found it to be under Usergroups >> Usergroup Manager

COBRAws 01-12-2007 02:23 PM

Is there a way so they can receive and reply to staff members PM's? I've been looking for something like that since 2005

I suppose some people are just too lazy to do it this way, so they prefer to install a simple mod that will be able to be turned on and off and customized quite easily when they feel they need to. That is the only difference I can see.

Both are good options in my eyes.

Nice work.

I second that. If the required number of posts to use the pm system have not been met, the user should still be able to receive pm's and should still be able to send to the admin/moderator usergroup only.

forumbjk 01-13-2007 08:21 PM

Thank you for adding this hack.İt s so essential adding to my site....:)

Frimon86 01-14-2007 12:21 AM

Ok I'm frustrated like no other. Their is no option to edit the number of posts or how to edit this darn thing so I can test it, because right now it doesn't work.

I uploaded the file exactly as your read me says.
Step 1 (Upload Files):
Upload the file 'bitfield_rxptups.xml' to the 'xml' folder inside 'includes'.
Step 2 (Upload Product):
Go to your AdminCP.
Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Click [Add/Import Product] -> Select the file 'product-require_x_posts_to_use_pm_system.xml'.
Click 'Import'.

I had already a pre-registered account ready to test this feature, I tried to send a pm to my self (an admin) as I am a user, and I logged out of the user account logged into my admin account and I got a pm. Can you give DETAILED information on how to fix this and how to edit the number of posts please! Not everyone here is a vb brainier, I'm new to vb. Help a brother out.

Dismounted 01-14-2007 02:36 AM

Usergroup Manager -> Select the Usergroup -> Options are there.

Mickie D 01-14-2007 01:04 PM

you could just setup a promotion say

Registered +

which after 10 posts and say 2 days registered you can allow the downloads/PM's/forum views

this way has far more superior options and if you know how to use templates and the conditionals you can have access/restricitons to plenty of things!

sorry i always like to see new hacks but when you can already do this with the forums software it kinda defeats the point

Dismounted 01-15-2007 02:43 AM

It saves on potential rows of extra information in MySQL tables.

Smoothie 01-15-2007 01:08 PM

Is there a chance of getting a change in this mod to allow PM's to get sent to/from users that don't have the required posts, but only from usergroups specified?

The reason I ask is because I use the welcome pm to new users feature and this wouldn't allow pms to be read by the new member. Also, some new members pm me back when getting this welcome message. Thanks for considering.

Teknik4 01-15-2007 01:44 PM

Thanks Dismounted.

my demands are the same

i need new users to receive pm but unable to send till they reach specific amount of pm, and it will be much better if they can send/receive pm from admin group or specific group

then it will be a great hack

Furcal 03-18-2007 05:34 AM

Awesome. Installed ;)

Charlie98902 05-04-2007 11:16 PM

Is there a way to allow new users under the post count settings to be able to receive PM's from a mod, super mod or admin and be able to just reply to that but will not be able to use the PM freely till the post count required is reached?

v12kid 05-05-2007 07:00 AM

installed and working great! The suggestions by others to have it so you can recieve buty not send is great as well, regardless I appreciate the great work!

xlguy 05-05-2007 03:33 PM

We've had some users able to get around this limit, any ideas how?

Don't keep bugging me, it'll make me less likely to implement the feature. Also, it's not as easy as you think and time is limited.

Just wondering if there has been any progress with this feature.

Nevermind. I was installing yours at the same time I was installing another, and the error was in the other.

Please delete my message when convenient.

COBRAws 08-24-2007 04:34 AM

Thank YOU sir ;)

dacho 09-01-2007 11:44 AM

Is it possible to repair or to add allowed (before "x" number of posts) there can be to send PM's only to the admin ?

There is users that not entered to advertise in the system, will be able to communicate with the owner

blackvborg 09-28-2007 09:21 AM

like others here I would like that the users should be able to receive PMs and reply to MOD/ADMINs

Thank you

K3MPO 04-29-2008 03:54 AM

Thank you...a great mod..and supported as well ;)
