**Before Making An Add on **

Please visit the forum for SR Classifieds at vBClassified.com. The forum is open to discuss issues as well as to provide a place for coders to share their work. By posting there, it will make it easiser for me to monitor the logic and try to ensure that hacks being posted are as safe as possible.

**About This Script **

What does this do?
This hack gives you a classified ad system. Multiple categories can be created and users can post ads in these categories. Other users can then rate them and give them feedback accordingly.

What features does this hack provide?

• Main page with statistics, categories, recent activity, etc.
• Ability to arrange ads in categories
• Categories can have their own images
• See how many total, closed, and open ads are in each category.
• Ratings and category counts are automatically rebuilt
• After the timeframe of the ad is up, the ad is closed
• Add new classified ads with images, description, title, and more!
• Users have their own page where feedback and such shows.
• Paypal button is automatically generated if the user enters a paypal email address. Clicking this button will allow the user to buy whatever the other user is selling.
• Add extra fields to ads
• Ability to edit and delete ads
• Control everything from the amount of results showing per page in searches, to the size of thumbnails.
• GIF, JPG, and PNG images are supported.

6 Easy Steps
Step 1. Import the following product: product-sr_classifieds.xml
Step 2. Upload the files in the upload folder.
Step 3. CHMOD the sr_classifieds/uploaded folder and sr_classifieds/uploaded/thumbnails folder to 777
Step 4. Do the edits located below
Step 5. Update newly added usergroup permissions and options
Step 6. Enjoy the hack.

Changes:

Fixed Cron, sr_classifieds.php, and templates so that CLOSED ads is always "0" (Script used 0 and 2 before)
Fixed code to Open and Close ads to update category counts
Fixed layout of category display
Made closed Ads show "CLOSED" in time column instead of negative numbers.
Fixed layout issues in View Ad template
Added NEW Cron that will delete listings, uploaded images, and image table from database after ad has been closed for 90-days
NOTE - Webmasters can edit 90-days in the new CRON FILE (Line is adequately commented!)

I will be posting instructions on how this script can be used on 3.5.x. forums later this evening. In short, this script was cleaned up and exported frp a 3.6.x. forum and to run this on a 3.5.x. forum need to create an execution order table in your pluggins table.

2 questions,

1) I bought the original full version from the con artist known as Gio that sold the rights to the script to you. Do you have anything in place for people that bought the old script but got nothing?

2) Does this remove all the bugs that Gio never did and does it remove old adverts once they are closed after so long or does the DB constantly grow with old and closed adverts?

Although I've not found the answer to question 2 yet, I found the answer to question 1 on his site.

We will get a discount applied to the purchase price, although the option to get the discount doesn't seem to appear on the purchase screen. I've PM'd him on his site for this though, so it should be sorted soon enough.

It looks positive, quarterbore actually seems to put time in to this, Gio watch and learn!

I also bought two of the originals. I've just asked on the forums. Probably will be able to once you provide the payment details. Glad to see this excellent mod being worked on.

What's the difference between the "lite/free" and "pay for" versions.

What are the problems mentioned above? Some bugs/cleanup or security issues?

I am working to identify the problems with the lite version. There were a few code fixes (template issues) that were made and a few people had problems with this hack when installed in 3.6.x. but I have not been able to reproduce the errors. I do not think there are any security issues.

As for comparing the two products, SR Classifieds is a lite version that allows Ad Types of BUY and SELL in one level of categories. With SR Classifieds there is no way to charge to list an item.

vBClassified is a much more diverse product and has a completely different operating database. It uses a concept of Ad Nature and an Admin can add as many Ad Types as they would like that use the basic nature codes. The current Nature codes include NO PRICE, FIXED PRICE, and INCREASING BIDS. vBClassified also allows multiple images with lightbox, private offers system, public comments, bid retraction logging, Commit to Buyer options, Deal Pending and Deal Done systems, and more. It also features an incremental bid system like ebay and sellers or site staff can delete bids. You can compare the two on my site at http://www.vbclassified.com and as you can see you can have both run on the same website as they do not use ANY of the same phrases, templates, or database tables/fields. vBClassified uses a system of credits that can be purchased with $Money or vBBux points and these credits can be set to various costs per category (including FREE). Credits are also optionally used to feature ads.

I am just starting to try to address the issues with SR CLASSIFIEDS lite. One issue I have noticed is that the whitespace is not preserved and I had to fix that in another of my projects but I need more time to trace the code to find the error.

If you join my site at vbclassified you can try the LITE version and see what it does and you can try the premium version as well. Both work quite well, it just depends on your needs.

I am a little confused about the version numbers.

Gio's was 1.02 and you said a a while back NOT to install it as you will be releasing a newer version when you got a chance to look at it.

Now you created this post here but the file is 1.03, however on your own site you say that this was gio's last version and again, don't install it as it needs alot of fixing.

I am confused.

Basically, is this a new version, or not?

If not, can you maybe give us a basic time frame (no hurry of course) as I have taken your advice and not installed it.

Sorry for the confusion. There is a bug in the message area code that I am trying to find and fix in that if you use the standard editor the whitespace is preserver but if you use the "advanced" editor the formatting is messed up. The code that does this is in the sr_classifieds.php file as I looked at the template files and I did not see the error there.

I will update the product file when I find a fix with directions on how to move up to the new release.

This script can be installed and it should work fine. If anybody has problems, just let me know and I'll fix them.

I added this to my site, I wanted to test this before I buy the vbclassified. But I dont see
a paypal button,message box,users own page, And much much more! Any ideas?

OK, I figured out where to comment, but on any site when you click on a persons name you are sent to their profile. This is the same in vbClassified. Also the paypal button should be inside the add, not outside. I am not a coder nor am I trying to be one, but I am a firm believer in making site navigation as user friendly as possible. Can this be done?

Out of couriosity. Could this addon be customized in such a way for purpose of job listings and personals?

I'm about to purchase photopost classifieds however if vbclassifieds can be set up for the above mentioned purposes, then I will buy your (vbclassifieds) addon today.

I do still plan to rework SrClassifieds and I agree the paypal link is in the wrong place on Sr Classifieds but I don't have the time to recode this at this time as I am busy with other projects at the moment. I will try to work on it in the next couple weeks but I reposted this because in the old thread members here had install errors which seem to have been fixed now (at least I am not seeing any complaints).

As for the other issues, SR Classifieds and vBClassifieds work like most any vBulletin hack where if you click on the user's name you will see info about the user. This is not a bug, it's the way it should work?

As for the PayPal button in vBClassified, that is only inside the Ad and it is only available after you commit to the seller to buy the item. Once you commit, you can pay via paypal and once paid the seller can no longer edit their ad or reset you as a buyer. If you send money via the poney express, then the seller has a "MARK PAID" link that will allow them to indicate you paid for the item.

Champster:

SR CLASSIFIEDS is limited by a database structure and code with what it can do. You could modify it but it would be a lot of work. vBClassified on the other hand will allow you to post items without a price like job listings, personals, etc. The system is completely compatable but I have not coded the script to not give the "Commit to Buy" for these types of ads as I am actively coding the script and I don't want these conditionals in the final product users install!

Just the same, here is an example of a personals listing:

The ViewAd template could be hacked with conditionals so that if the Type of ad is a "Job Listing" that the Commit button would not be shown... I just can't do that with a production website that I use to export the product files from.

Do any of the classified add ons you offer have the ability to remove the Time Left column and the ability to send the user a PM rather than an email?

I to would like it to be able to PM the user,as a lot of my members dont allow their email to be exposed,also is it possible to add a block on forumhome that randomize photo's of what is in classifieds?

ok ive had a play,this is for those that dont want the email user function,but want the abilty to be able to use PM instead this is what i did
Open product-sr_classifieds.xml with a text editor
scroll down to around line 858 and find
and replace with then save
re-import the product and select yes to overwrite

because I find that many mods show a demo of the real deal and u end up with something else :p so asking beforehand

Its running both, the link just takes you to lite version.
I am running the lite version of this mod on my site, Its only been active a few days, but seems to work just fine.

An image, Im not sure, but, Your can add text with ease.

admincp/vBulletin Options/SR Classifieds in Your advertisement code box add disired info to be added, click save, open classifieds and you will see it, look at my site.

This is script was exported from a 3.6.x forum so to install on a 3.5.x website you need the following product file (which I also released):

Everything is templated so can you post the graphic you would like displayed and give an idea where you want it to show and I can advise where to hack the templates...

As indicated above, the e-mail is a vBulletin function and in the lite version of the premium version you could edit the templates. Now, if a user sets vBulletin so they do not receive e-mails... BOTH of the classifieds scripts honor this! Everything in both scripts is permission based!

As for the time left, I have received this as a request for the premium version but I have not worked out how to do this yet due to the complexity of that script.

This was updated in the ZIP package and released as version 1.0.4.

Please reupload all of the files again and revert any customized templates or you will not see the newest versions!

I just installed this right after you changed out the zip, everythign looks great, except when I go to delete an ad, nothing happens. In the status bar on my browser is says "javascript deletead();".

If I go into my page's source and look at the JS code I can find the link to delete it, I put it in my address bar hit enter and it deletes it. Any ideas?

I fixed it... somehow. Not sure. It wasn't on my site either, was on another site I help with.

I think there is an extra space somewhere I took out if I remember right.

What browser do you use (I've learned to ask as more often then not when people have issues I can't see they are using firefox)...

I don't know. Its working now. I am using Firefox 2.0 on XP and also tried it on Safari on Mac OS X. Working on both now though. Sorry for the issue.

I updated, But I still see only 2 classifieds usergroup permissions, Is there new ones?

my members are wanting to be able to post comments to adds,as ive said i'd have to pay for that version so for the time being i have disabled this hack till i can come up with some spare $$ but thankyou anyway its a great system

No, there are only two usergroup specific settings in SR Classifieds Lite. May I ask why would you assume that would have changed? vBClassified, which I saw you looking at, has 18 usergroup settings plus a lot more AdminCP settings.

I wish I could advise you to use the lite version and I would help you upgrade later but the database structure to the lite script is completely different then the premium script so it has been a real challange. I hope to have something that will work in the future but as of now I have not been able to transfer my SR Classifieds site data to the new script (so I just close it to new ads and have everybody repost or their old ads were lost).
