Absolute path for vbulletin CSS file

This hack was coded by me when I got problems when using "Store CSS Stylesheets as Files?" and use hacks that are placed outside of my vbulletin forum root (e.g: vbadvanced). Using "Store CSS Stylesheets as Files?" reduce my bandwidth and load speed so can't miss it (and I think you should not either).

This hack is created 15mins ago for my need, I thought some of you may need it too (many people use vbadvanced) so I decided to post here.

This hack is useless if you have "Store CSS Stylesheets as Files?" option set to No.

Although I think this hack does not need a demo, here is it anyway: http://download.holvn.org

Installations:

there is no queries run, no db changes, no template edit, just upload "Absolute path for vbulletin CSS file.xml" as a new plugin and everything is done. Simple !

CHANGES: 13 - Jan - 2007: fix the problem when using it with vbadvanced cmps. please reupload the plugin to fix.

Such a simple idea that is needed when running stuff like Photopost or vbadvanced gallery while using external style sheets. Instead of using a relative path to forum root for the .CSS it uses an absolutely (http://www.mydomainname.com/forum/style.css) so it'll display.

vBAdvanced Gallery and CMPS does this automatically....

you're right, I didn't realize that :P but the other hacks do need this when moving outsite of the forum.

I nominate this as one of the contenders for most useless hacks of 2007.

Happy New Year.

It will contend nicely with your threadsoup mod then. :P

This modification is highly useful for people who have integrated other applications that reside outside of the forum directory... when Zachery released it for 3.0.x, it was one of the most useful mods available.. and it continues to be so.

You should update this to work for the .js references as well.

LOL.

loaded,
all it did was strip the css from the page...it didnt work.

so i went in and unchecked them..theres seems to be two of them ..might have already added this once.? or maybe it added the two

Absolute path for $style[css]
Absolute path for $style[css]

entrys in the plugin list..

we run the vbadvanced and the photopost so..thought maybe it would help someplace..

there is a huge lag when people click on to the gallery though..thats been there for some time now..

I was hoping this would have an effect to fix that..

but nah..
just striped the css off the site..

btw, yes we have 'Store CSS Stylesheets as Files' checked.

thanks anyway.

If all you say about it's usefulness is true then I now totally understand the blistering pace of it's install rate and rapid ascention to MOTM.... :D

Don't be a twit.

Taking a look at Zachery's profile
[3.5.5] Prefix url if storing CSS as a files // 41
[3.0.6] prefix url if store CSS as a file // 17

that's more than all of your installs added together.

I've updated this hack so that it won't effect the vbadvanced CMPS. With the photopost gallery this hack has nothing to do with. I'm not sure how it is with vbadvanced gallery tho.

Thanks for those who like this hack and click installed. It is very likely that you don't use a hack on your board not to mention a hack that is outside vbulletin forum directory so of course it's useless to you. As I mentioned above this hack is useful for me, I released it because I thought one or any of the users here may find it useful too. If you think this hack should be removed you can contact a vbulletin.org moderator to remove it for you, I have no problem with that at all :).

This came in very handy for me since I use two domain names for the same forum, and my stylesheets weren't parsing on the second domain as long as they were stored as files.

Thanks to another hack I was using that wouldn't use vBulletin styles properly unless the CSS was stored in the filesystem, I was in a jam, and the forum was on two domains: one looked awesome, the other white and Times New Roman.

Thanks for this!

This mod was quite useful for me as well. I have custom headers for some programs that run outside the forum folder and this saved me a lot of time.

This is exactly what I need, but I need it for vB 3.8.x. I've spent the past hour playing with it, but it seems to make no difference at all. My css, which is stored as a file, still treats URLs as relative, instead of absolute.

Would someone please be so kind and either point me to a link, or tell me how I could edit the plug in?

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
