vBulletin.org update: January 7th, 2007

As the New Year officially begins, many users are probably curious if any new changes will occur at vBulletin.org. The staff has spent a lot of time reading your suggestions and composing a To-Do list for the community.

Our main focus is to continue as the official modification resource for vBulletin by implementing new features which will make it easier for both the users who download modifications and the developers who code the modifications or design styles. We are here to support the entire member-base of the community.

We plan to roll out with these features throughout 2007 in stages.

Our first roll out will be this Sunday, January 7th. The site will be temporarily closed as we push out the first new features.

Many users have submitted their opinions on what color they wish the new vBulletin.org style should be, at the following poll:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=134067

We have carefully reviewed the poll and the new style will be revealed on Sunday along with some additional features.

This will be a great way to start the new year, and we thank all the members for their support and patience. It is going to be an exciting year for vBulletin.org! :)

Marco van Herwaarden 01-04-2007 07:55 AM

We are already working on changes for many months. The new style is one of the products of that process, and it was not created overnight.

RedTyger 01-04-2007 09:30 AM

Thank you very much indeed. :)

sebbe 01-04-2007 02:44 PM

The Smooth Blue here is my favorite style. So simple yet good looking, gotta love it! I will miss it for sure. :(

Shazz 01-04-2007 02:57 PM

So as said there will only be one style?

Distance 01-04-2007 05:37 PM

Yes.

(.... ish)

Princeton 01-04-2007 06:16 PM

Yes, only 1 style will be available. (More about this when the new changes are implemented.)
The new style is just a small part of the new features being implemented.

You will find numerous changes throughout the site.

Our Goals:
  • To create a system in which we can upgrade/extend easily. (Not just for us, but future vb.org volunteers.)
  • To create a more user-friendly environment.

Snake 01-04-2007 07:09 PM

Good luck to everyone! :)

Reece^B 01-04-2007 09:03 PM

Look forward to the changes. :)

Well, that's a saying that I haven't come across before. What's it mean?

Marco van Herwaarden 01-07-2007 07:31 AM

Since our Staff is based both on UK and US, the upgrade will be done somewhere this evening UK time.

Paul M 01-07-2007 10:19 AM

The change starts at 9pm UK time tonight.

This post is timed at 12:19 uk time.

Having experience of major forum upgrades and changes, I would have to say "when the job is done".

It's not normally possible to give accurate estimates as you never know what might happen.

ZeroX Prodigy 01-07-2007 12:34 PM

So, in about 6.5 hours, nice. I can't wait for these changes to be implemented, they are going to be awesome!

loonytune15 01-07-2007 01:30 PM

oh well i'll go to bed and vb will have disappeared due to an unforseen technical problem thats erases the database...

or not.

Hard to say, but I would expect a couple of hours at the most.
