vBdiary & vBblog - Convert a forum into a diary or weblog (blog) forum.
Notice: This mod is no longer being developed by the original author. As of today (1-1-2008) it will be continued by Laura!
This mod will enable you to convert a forum into a diary of weblog (blog) forum. A diary or blog can be started by any user who has permissions to post in the forum and only the author of the diary is able to post entries. The autor of the diary is able to protect the diary with a password so that only users (also guests) who know the password are able to view the diary or blog. This mod may contain some bugs as I did not yet test it extensively. Please let me know if you find any bugs and I will work on it. Feature requests are also verry welcome! Have Fun! Jan Jaap Updates:
No template edits are needed, all is managed via the plugin system, a onetime install and further configuration from the original vBulletin forum adminpanel. Is there a way of removing the Reply button when people are reviewing that diary, instead of giving the button then an insufficient permissions message when they submit? Thanks |

It's a great hack, although I think I am going to use it for private threads rather than a diary. Great work Adult SEO - your vBulletin hacks are the best!

Hi!
I've updated the mod. I've spend almost 5 hours on setting up a diary thumbnail manager based on the original vBulletin Avatar manager wich will cache the avatars for example and store them in the database or on your server based on your vBulletin settings. I've tested with the default vBulletin Database Avatar storage setting and not yet the filestorage option aldough I did add support for it. If you want to use the vBulletin Filestorage option you will need to create a directory named diarythumbs in your forum root and chmod it 775. The Diary now also has a custom forum view as requested by Pehchaan. I will also add comment support but do not yet know how to do it. If you have any suggestions let me know! Best Regards, Jan Jaap |
Thanks for the update :)

Just 10 seconds ago I uploaded a new version again wich now has support for "Blog" or "Diary" (both work the same but use difrent of the same templates and difrent phrases). So you are now able to use this script to offer weblogs aswell! Best Regards, Jan Jaap |

Hi!
Will be fixed, some phrases are missing: is_diary_option and is_blog_option. The AJAX title editing will be fixed also. Best Regards, Jan Jaap |
I get this when I try to add .xml
Database error in vBulletin 3.6.4: Invalid SQL: ALTER TABLE `forum` ADD `is_diary` INT( 5 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0';; MySQL Error : Duplicate column name 'is_diary' Error Number : 1060 |
a small issue, but not nice to view.
after editing phrases for german and english language the colon " : " went to the next line (see attachment). this issue appears only when creating a blog and not when creating a diary thread. didn't find a fix right now. |
Error in the ACP. No announcement. see screenshout
|
Try to make a thread / diary sticky and have a look how
thrad listings looks like.. ;) |
Well done! :)
It would be very good if you keep the first post updated with a list of the things you already worked on and with a list of things that might not work at the moment. :) From what I've read you spent some time fixing some bugs but others still exist or did you already fix them? What do you mean by 'unfinished work on the showpost system'? |
