vB News CMS
Very similar to vB News CMS for 3.5, but a some of the code was rewritten. This now works with BBCode - (This includes line breaks, URLs, smilies, etc.). I've removed several lines and taken out have removed the dual option for SQL 4.1 or higher as a lot of people are still on the lower MySQL
What does this do? It allows you to take your news from your news forums (up to 9 news forums) and display them in a category-style fashion with the ability to add new content, reply to the original story, send to a friend, and print. This works only for vbulletin 3.6.0 or higher. There is a 3.7.x version here Install/Upgrade Instructions Located in the zipped readme.txt file. Frequently Asked Questions What is the forumid? The forumid is the id of the forum you have created. Each forum has its own unique number assigned to it. When you click on a forum link you can see a number that is assigned to it. This will show up in the URL of the page you are browsing. Another way of seeing the forumid is to go to your admin control panel => Forums & Moderators => Forum Manager => Click on [Expand All] and then move your mouse over (hover) any of the forums you've created. Your status bar (bottom of screen) should display your forumid (number at the end of the link/url). Changes V. 1.2a Added security for admins V. 1.2 Added support for Who's Online Things in consideration for future releases 1) Menu system that dynamically displays a menu based on forum choices. Known Bugs/Issues: 1) - When you go to the page directly, the page acts as a normal page - however, if you click refresh on the page, the refresh stalls. I don't understand why this occurs. Thanks for man;)
|
thanks for this release, trying now.
|
Installed . Thanks
i think it shows Sticky posts instead of new post , isnt it ? |
is it possible to put this as your site, instead of the forum?
|
Yes, it can be done with some renaming of files and some changes to your settings. It will only work in the same directory as your forums though.
|
Nice.

Thx !!
Better include in the future releases a category (with images) system, no? ;) Just like "Slashdot News MOD" for phpBB if you know it ;) |
:-* thanks
|
This looks very good, however, if this could be used as a "true"homepage I would install in a minute.
|
Oh I think there might be something you might like then... Kerry-Anne? :P

I've been sick myself - very sick, and been waiting on trying to get my merger done. I just decided to go ahead and finish up some stuff before I work on my major projects (vbnl, vbb, vbb+mp3) merger comes first though. Which could be as soon as today. Hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow. I've not had the flu, but had nasal and chest issues.
|
Thankyou for this ;)
|
Very nice! Thanks!

well i installed this News CMS (looks awesome)
but i got one little Problem, the Page is on the left i want it to get to middle (center) what do i need to edit? |
By default it is set to center on the page unless something is forcing it to the left. The templates tell it to center. However you can alter the template to a width of 100% rather than a fixed width and this should fix the issue.
Btw, don't forget to click install. |
they weird problem is, my forum got a size of like 50%
the Forum is on the center i just installed your mod, and now the vbnews.php is on the left i dont get it |
This will be an issue with your style in general. Check your header and footer templates for anything that could affect it.
|
i just found out
the problem seems to be Internet Explorer 7 Working on IE6 and Firefox why is that? Code:
<!-- logo --> when i revert it, the navbar is ++++ed, but the page is on the center |
Can this be also used on a non vb page? Pulling the info from a vb forum section then adding it in a new style format to a non vb page?

Hey!
Trying to get this working on a page outside the forum folder, a non vb page. I have included the vbnews.php file into the page i want to show my news, but it somehow destroys the design of the page. It should be 3 colums with the news in the middle and the tables separated with a vertical dotted line. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue? |
Not offhand

I've updated to include Who's online support.
|
I have a question about this, could I rename the news.php to say index.php and move it out of the forums folder?
Say I have \index.php (renamed news.php) \board\ (forums folder) Will that work? |
Most likely, but you will need to edit each instance of vbnews.php and vbnews to index.php and index (respectively) in the php page. I've not tried it, but don't see why not.
|
I've had no luck getting this to work, out side of the forum folder. I keep getting the following error(s)
Code:
Warning: main(/home/aquasoft/public_html/includes/init.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/aquasoft/public_html/board/global.php on line 20 |
